I have always loved liver and I know lots of people who will not touch it.
Whenever I go to the nasi campur stall, one of the dishes I look out for is hati (liver).
And at the chicken rice stall, I also ask for liver if it is available.
When I was small, my late grandfather was an advocate of liver because he said it is nutritious. He once recommended liver stir fried with chives to my grandaunt when she was in poor health.
The only way I have ever cooked chicken liver is by stir frying it with garlic, chives and oyster sauce. I don't cook it often because though liver may be nutritious, it is an organ that performs excretory functions and therefore may contain undesirable elements.
But once in a while, I do indulge. This chicken liver dish is delicious. It is not difficult to cook and uses only a few ingredients.
Hati Ayam Goreng Cili
Recipe source : Adapted from Azie Kitchen
Ingredients :
- 300g chicken liver
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt to taste
- 5 red chillies
- 5 shallots
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sweet soya sauce
Method :
1. Pound chilies, shallots and salt (need not be too fine). Set aside.
2. Mix liver, turmeric powder and salt.
3. Heat oil in pan and fry chicken liver until cooked. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same pan, fry the pounded ingredients until aromatic and slightly dry.
5. Return the liver to the pan and stir to mix.
6. Serve immediately.
I pun loike jugak PH..... I suka rasa dia bila hati ayam ni masak yang tak berapa nak garing tu. Uhhh sedapnya....Lagi sedap kalau fresh hati.... Kalau dah quite some time kadang rasa dia dah tak best sangat.
ReplyDeleteI tengok u punya dish semua less oil. I suka mcm tu tp kadang kadang bila time letak minyak tu rasa macam sikit rupanya sudah terlebih....
Kan? Dia macam lemak2 gitu. PH pun suka. PH lebih suka kalau berminyak sikit. Sedap makan dengan nasi.
DeleteSaya pun suka jugak buat goreng kering2 camni PH, tambah lak ati tu mmg suka makan..tp kat umah tadak geng..en.suami dan anak2 xmakan hati
ReplyDeleteOh ye, ke? Kalau takde orang share, terlalu banyak pulak untuk dihabiskan sorang.
DeleteI passed! Never fond of liver. ^^
ReplyDeleteOK! LOL!
DeleteI've not eaten chicken liver for a very long time but yours looks very delicious, especially with chillies :)
ReplyDeleteMe too stopped for a while until this one :)
DeleteAi tak suka hati ayam, tak sedap. Ank2 pun tak makan.
ReplyDeleteOkie...cita rasa berlainan lah kite ni :)
DeleteI have not eaten liver from the Malay stall, usually from Chinese chicken rice stall...
ReplyDeleteTry lah one day. Very nice.
Deletememang you have won my hati with this recipe ... i love chicken liver! i've never quite seen this specific recipe ... it's mouthwatering! when i go to a nasi kandar stall, my questions are, ada hati ayam? ada telur ikan? ada kerang? those are my top three, but it feels impossible to find any nasi kandar place in the klang valley that offers all three nowadays ...
ReplyDeleteAh, I have found a way to your heart! Girls, listen up! LOL! I am also a fan of telur ikan but don't seems to see it anywhere :(
DeleteI do eat Chicken liver sometimes but you said your grandpa nurses your grandaunt with livers! What did he cure her?? I will start eating by kilos to have a robust health.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember grandaunt's illness but she was in and out of hospital quite frequently.
DeleteI don't take chicken liver... But your sauce looks good, spicy stuff, me like!
ReplyDeleteCan use the spice ingredients for fried fish or chicken. Also yummy :)
DeleteI like liver and I am sure I will try out your recipe
ReplyDeleteHope you like it.
DeleteThat is very interesting recipe, I would like to try that☺
ReplyDeleteIt's good. Hope you like it.
DeleteWe used to eat lambs fry when I was young, which is the lamb's liver. My mum wouldn't cook it as she hated the smell, but my grandma always cooked it for my grandfather.
ReplyDeleteI have never had lamb's liver and I am sure I would enjoy it too.
DeleteI like!!! But I would prefer beef liver though, has more bite, not so soft - bought RM5 beef liver rendang that day, so very nice...eating a little bit every meal. I'm so disciplined in my eating. :D
ReplyDeleteI like beef liver too. Hmm...now that you mentioned it, I must look for it :)
DeleteSedap makan dengan nasi lemak ni PH..
ReplyDeleteCH kalau gi makan nasi lemak suka makan dgn hati goreng berlada ni :)
Sama geng lah kita, Yati :)
DeleteI'm not one of those who won't touch it. I love chicken liver! When I go to a chicken rice stall, I'd ask for liver too...and they're the best...cooked just right. At the malay mixed rice stall, whenever I look for liver, I usually find it deep fried and overcooked (till hard) :( As much as I love chicken liver, I also try not to indulge too often...but we also can't deny that it offers a fantastic source of iron (more than any red meat can offer)....kekeke! ;D
ReplyDeleteThat's great, you love chicken liver too! Oh yes, when it is cooked just right it is sooo tender and creamy. Yum! Yum!
DeleteThat looks good!
ReplyDeleteI almost wanted to buy hati for lunch today, after reading your post! LOL
LOL!
DeleteLiver was my favourite until I came to know about its excretory functions and got turned off many years ago. In fact we used to fight over the liver..ha ha! But your dish looks good and maybe I can used it to cook chicken fillet or shell fish. He he!
ReplyDeleteIn spite of knowing its function, I am still OK eating it LOL!
DeleteDuring my young young days, I ate a lot of liver too.. from chicken and our oink oink... nothing frightened us then... but nowadays, different story.. too much reading makes us phobia of this and that...
ReplyDeleteHah..hah...too much knowledge makes us such cowards :D Once in awhile it is ok to indulge.
Deletei like to eat liver but i have only eaten beef, chicken, duck and oink oink liver. of the lot, i eat oink oink liver the most. just the other day i ate chicken liver and tempeh cooked together in chili - yummy! yours look just as delicious! yummy!
ReplyDeleteThat chicken liver and tempeh you had sounds delicious. I shall attempt one soon hee..hee...
DeleteI like duck liver
ReplyDeleteI have not eaten duck liver yet :)
DeleteNo thank you, I'm not a fan of innard, haha~~
