Tomorrow is Chinese New Year. And hello there! This is the latest bloom from my Bunga Kantan (Torch Ginger) plant.
I love Bunga Kantan in asam laksa, kerabu and asam fish. I have also added some into coleslaw. Hah!
It hardly flowers. And when it does, I am so excited.
I used to buy Bunga Kantan from the supermarket whenever I wanted to make kerabu. But it is not always available.
Ironically, the last few times when it bloomed, I did not make use of it except for this one time.
Today is the eve of Chinese New Year and I know some of you are running helter skelter with last minute preparations.
Well, that was me last year. This year, I kick off my shoes, sit back, relax and eat kacang.
For a bit of nostalgia, I am putting the links below to my previous Chinese New Year capers for when I feel bored.

Hi Phong Hong, I love the aroma of this torch ginger and it looks beautiful. Good idea to use it for floral decoration [long lasting]. Me too will be busy after CNY and probably not much time to post often. How I wish, I can sit back and relax but this is only possible in the comfort of my own home after next Sunday. At times, wish I have a different kind of heart...is it possible.??? Anyway, relax as much as possible. It is good to treat ourselves better [CNY resolution], hahaha!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great break - and plenty of good times spent with your loved ones, Phong Hong! May this year bloom into something as beautiful as your bunga kantan :D

This flower is very elegant and nice! Some brides should carry a bunch of Bunga Kantan blooms for a change.
