Naughty Nuri's@Atria

My brother and I had been talking about going to Naughty Nuri's (Desa Sri Hartamas) for the longet time. But we never got to it until they opened shop at Atria Shopping Gallery. Yay!

So when my brother suggested dinner on a weekday, of course I said yes. We were concerned that the restaurant would be packed on a weekend. In fact we were also concerned that they could be packed on a weeknight too.

Our fears were unfounded although the restaurant was bustling when we got there past 6:00pm. The only snag was that due to the sitting arrangements here, we had to share table with a couple. It felt a bit awkward and I hope we did not spoil their date night hee...hee....

The atmosphere here has a fun vibe. Every now and then a group of servers will put up a dance to a loud catchy tune when serving drinks (I think liquor?). That tune was so "catchy" that it kept playing in my head way after I got home.

So. Time to order. The menu came in the form of a big sheet of plastic with very small print. Haiz....Those of us 40 and above had to squint really hard to read the menu. They should provide magnifying glasses.

What we were looking forwards to was the Naughty Nuri's 1995 Signature BBQ Spare Ribs. Then we topped up with Naughty Nuri's BBQ Pork Chop and Naughty Crispy Belly. We also got ourselves a Naughty Nuri's Signature Roast Pork Salad.

For drinks, my brother had Lemonade

While his stingy sister had the Bottled Water (because it was RM1.00, even though it was her brother's treat).

We were served the Naughty Nuri's BBQ Pork Chop first.

Two pieces, perfect. One for me and one for you.

It was delicious! My brother and I loved the pork chops. The sweet spicy BBQ sauce that came with the pork chops was pretty good.

The Naughty Crispy Belly reminded me of sweet and sour pork. Because we had a hard time reading the small print, we thought that this would be pork cracklings. But I wasn't disappointed because it was tasty, though not that crispy since it was drenched in sauce.

The much anticipated Naughty Nuri's 1995 Signature BBQ Spare Ribs. Well, what can I say? Not to be unkind, the ribs were not what we envisioned. I am not saying that it was not good but it fell short of our expectations.

On the plus side, it was wonderfully smoky and sweet. Just that the overall flavor was not impressive. The sweet BBQ sauce that accompanied the ribs is the same as the one served with the pork chops.

This Naughty Nuri's Signature Roast Pork Salad was a welcome addition to balance off our meaty meal. The dressing had a hint of bunga kantan and I liked it.

The roasted pork looks like the siew yoke that we get at chicken rice stalls but of course it tasted different. I thought it was decent enough.

When the server presented the bill, my brother was informed that he was entitled to a spin on the - I don't know what to call it - so I shall refer to it as the oink oink wheel of fortune.

After the bill was paid, we got up and approached the wheel. A server loudly announced us (hah..hah...) and then he hit the gong. BONG!!! It was really weird, I tell you.

My brother looked uncomfortable and though I wanted to help him spin, I knew better not to because I don't have luck. My brother, since he was a small boy, always had this kind of luck and he has since struck a few lucky draws.

Spin away! The piggie looks terrified.
And strike he did.

A RM50.00 cash voucher (which we reckon is the best prize).

Well, that was fun. We will be back one of these days to redeem the cash voucher.

  8. I've been eyeing Naughty Nuri's at Desa Sri Hartamas for the longest time too....but now I'm not so sure...coz I'm not into servers breaking into a dance routine (it can be awkward). It happened at Johnny Rockets (every 30 mins) and I vowed never to return. If I were you, I'd rather wait for a table than to share (it's ok if it's a coffee shop coz we eat and run anyway but not when you're planning to be there for a while). I don't think I could handle 4 meat dishes between 2...ok-lah, the 4th one got a bit of salad...hehe! ;D By the way, any overly porky smell in their pork? Oh dear, those little piggies have a terrified look! :D

    1. I have heard of Johnny Rockets and I thought the dance routine would be annoying hah..hah... Well, as long as they don't dance at my table I am OK. We didn't wait for table because it was late and I didn't want to get home too late. I am happy to report that there was no porky smell at all in their pork :)

  9. Hi, Mun here. I wanted to try Naughty Nuri after reading about submerryn's post on their buffet in life centre in kl. Since you and your brother are big eaters, both of you should have gone for their buffet which is only available in Life Centre in KL I believe to get your money's worth.

Since they are now in Atria, it is more convenient for me as I prefer to go to Atria than their other two locations but as you think their BBQ pork ribs sauce is sweet and not that interesting, I am now having 2nd thoughts about eating there. I guess the pork ribs you cooked the other day is much better than this one.

  10. Your brother is so lucky to get the RM50 cash vouchers. I usually get nothing or some merchandise that I have no use for. Do you both plan to go for their weekend buffet at Life Centre in KL?

    1. Life Center could be a bot out of the way for us but maybe we will consider since we are big eaters hee..hee...
