It's Your Turn To Laugh At Me

Okie, I offended some people when I said that Korean male actors/K-pop stars look girlish. It sort of got me thinking, when I was younger, who did I have the hots for?

When I was in primary school (standard six to be exact), the TV series Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys was quite popular. There were two actors who played the Hardy Boys - Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson.

I had a major crush on Parker Stevenson. Oh dear God! The hair! And does he look girlish to you?

Back then the Donny and Marie Show was also very popular. We kids would watch the show and then compare notes at school.

In fact, there was a snack sold in the school canteen which contained tokens which you can exchange for postcard sized photos of Donny or Marie.

Oh Donny Osmond! Yikes! Does he look girlish too?

Then when I went to secondary school, I fell for this Australian dude.

Sigh..... The late Andy Gibb. I thought he was so uuummmpphhh!!!! Does he look girlish to you?

Then there was Duran Duran. Simon Le Bon.

Does he look girlish to you? I don't know why that picture reminds me of the late Princess Diana. Maybe it's the hair.

Then later, I got on to Jared Leto.

Drat. He does have that soft girlie look.

After a certain age, I stopped admiring actors or rock stars. I would acknowledge that so and so is handsome/macho/cute but it stops at that. I move on. I'm auntie.

But let me tell you. My ultimate leng chai is still Richard Chamberlain. He is of course not from my era, my mum's era. And he is very old now.

So there. Conclusion, I was sucked in into that feminine look too, just that I did not realize it at the time. Apologies all round ladies.

Another old time leng chai. Marlon Brando.

  4. I was spared from falling over these pretty boys. Maybe I was not the normal young girl because I was so crazy over Disneyland cartoons, Enid Blyton books, mystery & adventure series and later detective series.

  6. Hahaha, I was expecting some cooking at the end of this post because in the K post you cooked fried chicken. Since you are now talking about Western guys, I thought you cooked some Western dish, hehehehe. I watched a lot of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew tv series when I was young. Guess we are about the same age, hehehe.

  9. Haha, eh, I not so free to laugh at you la.. I agree most actors look like sotong, especially koreans.. Older hong kong ones, more ok.. But later punyer hong kong one, beginning to look like girls too, I think it's the trend.. Errr, I don't have idols lastime, but if I have to think about it, I think it has to be those boy bands la - Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and Justin Bieber (yucky??)..
