You know, I have been watching one Youtube channel that has me fixated. Yuka Kinoshita. Japanese competitive eater. She's cute. She's pretty. And boy, can she eat!
I thought I was a big eater but beside Yuka, I am nothing. I am just like a little cicak. I have watched her eat 5 rotisserie chicken, 4 buckets of KFC and outeat 2 pro wrestlers.
I am soinspired impressed. Itadakimasu! That's her battle cry before she digs in. And then she goes mmmmmmm!!!. Watching her eat will make you hungry.
I am so
So what's with the Ajitama? That actually started off with me googling for ramen. These flavored eggs with soft runny yolks are served with ramen. I love eggs and I love soft runny centers. Then I started looking for the recipe.
I have made three attempts so far but have yet to perfect that soft center. I will keep trying until I get my magic number of minutes to boil the egg. I've tried 6 minutes (whites surrounding yolks still not set) and 6 minutes 50 seconds (yolks 90% set, arrrrghh!!!!).
These eggs are delicious. I have been taking them to work (two a day) as snacks for when I get peckish in the afternoons. No more popping over to Boite A Bijoux for a bun or two (sometimes three, hah!) because those carbs made me put on weight.
Misshapen egg. The eggs are soft and I crammed them all into a small container. |
I like this type of egg, but never try making myself before...
ReplyDeleteQuite difficult to achieve. Try and try again for me.
DeleteI cannot eat 100 eggs, although I know I always say I can eat this and that, but 100 eggs can make me die instantly la, haha.. This Yuka Kinoshita, I've been following her on YouTube... Been watching her for 1 year already, I've basically watched all her eating videos.. She could eat 48 pcs of KFC too!
ReplyDeleteShe is amazing, hor? And she is so thin. Aiya...I wish I can eat and eat and not grow fat.
DeleteTo get perfect eggs is near impossible for home cooks like us. I think the only way is through a controlled water bath (like sous vide) done by restaurants. For you to get at your magic number, you have to use the same no. of eggs (of the same size), same amount of water and same (boiling) temperature as you've cooked all your other batches. A change in any of these components will make your magic number differ....good luck! ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, how did you get the brown colouring on your eggs. I know they crack the shells of already hard-boiled eggs to get tea eggs but you can't do that if you want a soft yolk. I love any form of eggs and can devour two a day too (like you) but try not to for health reasons :'(
I guess you are right. There are a few variables to take care of. But I'm not giving up yet.
DeleteI soaked the peeled eggs in the the soya sauce marinade overnight, that's how the eggs became brown.
How the heck is she not a super big fatty like me??!! This is so unfair!!
ReplyDeleteI am upset too!
DeleteI love to eat eggs but always remind myself not to exceed 2 per week, hehehe :p *kiasi ma*
ReplyDeleteTwo per week only? I eat up to 3 a day hee..hee...
DeleteHi Phong Hong, me too love eggs but even if we eat 2 everyday 100 eggs need at least 50 days. LOL...You carry on experiment the eggs until perfect and let us know how many eggs you consume. :))
ReplyDeleteI wander how this Japanese lady can eat so much. Really salute her.
Have a nice day, regards.
Amelia
Hi Amelia! I keep trying because I love the eggs hee..hee... Very delicious once flavored with the marinade.
DeleteI just watched the video and she sure made me hungry & greedy too! Whenever I had overeaten, I would increase my exercise and skip meals. That's the only way to maintain la.
ReplyDeleteI wonder whether this lady really ate all just for the video or every meal?? She must be busy digging her throat after the video! Wakakakaka
Why got crazy women nowadays aarrr? There is the Korean "Showry" who screams and go nuts in her video to make viewers laugh like crazy.
Maybe she doesn't eat like that everyday. How I wish I could eat and yet stay thin like her!
Deletephew! i'm a major egg fanatic, but i think the most i could do in one sitting is 25 (i've done a dozen before easily) :) good luck with the ajitama experiments, and looking forward to seeing the final results! :D
ReplyDelete25??? That's mucho impressive! Bottomless put as I am, when it comes to eggs, I have to stop at maybe 5. They are very filling.
DeleteI like this type of eggs but lazy to prepare it this way after all I don't eat this much of eggs, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind trying again and again just to eat hah...hah....
DeleteIf I can eat like her and not grow fatter, I would not mind. That is life! Enjoying the food as you live. ^^
ReplyDelete100 eggs?? Are you sure??
Me too, wish can eat and eat and not grow fat. She ate 100 eggs in one sitting. Crazy :D
DeleteHi Phong Hong,
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of the HK famous drama Man In The Net where Ah Chan ate hamburgers. Oh boy she could eat so much yet so slim. I could eat at most 5 eggs (hard boiled or scramble) in a week ... hee hee!
Karen, 5 eggs in a week is so little hah..hah... I eat 3 a day. That makes 21. Yikes!
DeleteI thought you meant 100 eggs at one go. I eat an egg daily so after 100 days the count would be 100 eggs. Please don't give up and keep making ajitama until the eggs are perfect, ok?
ReplyDeleteYuka had 100 in one go. In my lifetime, I must have eaten hundreds hee..hee...
DeleteShe may have eaten 100 in one go but I highly doubt that she enjoyed eating the last one as much as the first one. Doubt she even have the time to taste her food before swallowing them.
DeleteI think so too :)
DeleteI have never tried them, although i have heard about them
ReplyDeleteThey are delicious!
DeleteI love eggs, prefer them hard boiled or with the yolk not so cooked
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteI watched her video before and really curious where those food go to in her body as she is so slim!
ReplyDeleteHer metabolism is amazing!
