My Latest Favorite Activity

Wait wait. I am not finished with my birthday yet, like it's a big deal. Sunday I gave myself a pre-birthday treat.

It has been a while. Since I had around 4,000+ Grab points, I decided to redeem them because this 4Fingers is very expensive.

I got a combo with rice and drumsticks.

Tambah crispy tofu bites. I love these!

And chicken wings. Don't worry. These are for two meals, lunch and dinner.

I kept some for dinner (the extra kimslaw went into the fridge) and the rest I ate for lunch.

Nyum

For the drink, I chose bottled water instead of sweet drinks.

It's mineral water. Good! Good! It can go into fueling my latest craze.

My lahling was so kind to grab me one dozen bottled mineral water for my activity.

I am having fun cultivating bacteria and yeast and enjoying their by products.

My microbes growing in the bottle.

Some are happily floating on the surface.

After 24 hours of secondary fermentation, I get me a nice fizzy bubbly drink that is barely sweet and a little tangy.

I shall write about my latest hobby soon.

  1. The chicken looked kind of soggy, not as crispy as what we usually see at KFC.

What on earth is that? Bacteria? I thought bacterial growth in food will cause food poisoning? LOL!!! My missus is into all kinds of things like that too...and the worst part she will make me drink...what smells like somebody's vomit!!! I really wanna throw up!!! Luckily it doesn't kill me!

    2. Arthur : Oh no, the chicken was crispy, my favorite fried chicken so far. That is water kefir. From your description of the small, I suspect what your missus makes (for your enjoyment LOL!!) is milk kefir. That one, I will stay far away as I know I will not like the smell and taste. It's good for the gut, so drink up! LOL!

    3. I meant "smell" not "small".

    4. No, actually, the one with the vomit smell was what she made using the fruits of the noni plant. Good, a cure for people with cancer, they say. But the smell!!! Some say it smells of armpit!!! Muahahahahaha!!!! Thank goodness it ran out eventually and she did not go looking for more of the fruits after that.

    1. hah..hah... that is water kefir. It's a probiotic drink and one of the benefits is it will improve our immune system. But I drink it because it tastes nice.

  4. I just had 4Fingers myself recently...so yummy! I'm thinking water kefir too. From the photos...I see blueberry & lemon flavoured water kefir in the making? Kekeke! I guess making your own is cheaper than getting them at RM9 a bottle from thekefirking...hehehe! ;)

    1. You and I are fans of 4Fingers hee..hee.. Yes, that's water kefir, so expensive to buy the ready made ones. I am going to attempt a blueberry & lemon flavor this weekend. What you see here is the cranberry.

  6. Hah, I still haven't tried the tofu and kimslaw that you recommended. Will get around to doing it before year end. Hah, so u r doing water kefir or kombucha now. Did u get a reaction after drinking them? They are supposed to detoxify the body. Where did you get the mother to kick off the fermentation? I read that the mother is from Russia 1800 till now so contains thousands of probiotics bacteria that no one can identify all of them so I don't dare to drink these.

    1. Yes, I am doing water kefir. It's a very nice drink. Well, I experienced mild tummy ache in the beginning but not anymore. I purchased the water kefir grains from Kefir World via Lazada. Quite pricey but the grains will multiply over time.
