No More Mysteries

I have captured many food photos on my phone. That's the fun that I have with my el chepo smartphone which my brother helped me buy not too long ago.

He wisely selected this phone for entry level tech-challenged people like me. It's a Microsoft Lumia and cost me a mere RM426.00 (if I remember correctly). No point getting a fancy schmancy Samsung Galaxy/iPhone if I only know how to text and receive calls hah..hah...

So anyway, I shall post them here before I forget what and where I had the food, lest we will have another Mystery Food post.

Boite a Bijoux
This bakery opened recently near where I work. So apa lagi? Go lah and nom nom nom.

Garlic Chicken Bacon Cheese. Very garlicky.

Banana Caramel something something. Very nice!

German Chicken Sausage something something. Pretty good.

Salted Egg Yolk Croissant. Yummeh!
I can't believe I paid RM13.80 for this. It wasn't that great. Just ordinary.
The staff here are friendly and very engaging. They greet you and recommend stuff to you which I think is nice.

Hokano
For my partner's sake, we went Japanese for a change instead of you-know-where.

Sashimi Bento for him.
This I forget the name. It has rice, eggs and beef. Very tasty.
Spider Roll to share.
My favorite Hokano Roll. The lady boss offered to prepare half portion because she was afraid I couldn't finish. I told her, don't worry, sure can finish hah..hah..hah...
Moonlight Bakery
This one opened before Boite a Bijoux. What I saw inside was not tempting but I was attracted to the sandwiches displayed outside.

Looks nice but tastewise just so so.

The bread was dryish, not so fresh and the filling didn't taste that great.
Not coming back.
The staff are not attentive. Very aloof and full of themselves. One of them was singing away to Leona Lewis' bleeding song. Mengumpat pulak...

Chillis
The lights are pretty dim here and photos don't come out nice, so I didn't snap any except this magnificent Skillet Brownies with Ice Cream.

I want that again.

Texas Chicken
It has been a long long time since I had fast food. This meal happened one weekend at the office when I had no idea what to eat.

The chicken was moist and tender, not bad. I was curious about the biscuit and it was very nice. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.  But it was sweet. I would prefer a savory one. The coleslaw, bleaks!

That's it. Now I can delete my food photos to make way for new ones.

One for the road.

  2. Oh dear...I'm one of those with fancy schmancy (as you put it) iPhone but use very little of its features....haha! :D

You said "for your partner's sake"...so I'm wondering where Japanese food rank in your choice of cuisine? I think I've seen the spider and hokano roll before in one of your blog posts.

A Texas Chicken outlet opened up in my housing area too recently but I've not tried. That coleslaw really does look horrid! >.<

    2. Hmmm...Japanese food probably ranks no. 5 after Indian, Malay, Western and Korean! Well, since Texas Chicken is in your neighborhood, you must try it :)

    3. RG, I'm not sure what you were eyeing but the Texas chicken in my neighbourhood is only a few months old! >.<

  4. Your el chepo phone can shoot very nice and sharp photos. Good enough and you are a smart & wise spender. No wonder all accountants are rich unlike me who doesn't do maths and chalked up bad debts. LOL

I like that Garlic Chicken Bacon Cheese because I love garlic. I have seen this spider rolls in Japan and they looked like hairy tarantula spiders there.

  5. Wahhhhhhhh!!!! Food porn!!! Salted Egg Yolk Croissant. There was some issue for that at one place not too long ago, right? Must be so very nice to make such a big deal out of it. Have not had all those Japanese delights since the good one we had here closed down. The rest here, not worth the money...and the calories.

I think I should get a phone like yours, no need to bring my digicam all the time. Can take nice pics in dim dark places?

    1. Yes, do get a smartphone. You will love it and never want to revert to the old one. If the place is dim, then you could use the flash but the picture will not turn out nice. At Chilis that day, I happened to be sitting under the light.

  9. Hi Phong Hong, I think I like the Japanese food more than the others. I tried the Texas Chicken at Sunway during my last trip to KL. They have free flow of soft drinks then. The fried chicken is good.
