Tapau 2

I have a confession to make. Even though I am disenchanted with chap fan, I went back to tapau again for the last 2 weeks.

I simply didn't have the motivation to cook for the weekday because I wanted more leisure time on weekends. You see, in order to have home cooked meals, I have to invest quite a bit of time on Sundays to do my prep work. My meals have to be prepared ahead of time so that I do not need to rush on workday mornings.

One Friday, I got tired of chap fan so I went to Salad Shack (CLOSED) to tapau my lunch.

After I ate the salad I made a notation that I did not like the dressing.

I used their pre-printed slip to place my order. Since I added a protein, I paid an extra RM4.50. After I paid and picked up my order, the order slip was returned to me.

Back in the office, it was time to eat.

Now how do you toss a salad like that? I poured the dressing all over the salad, replaced the lid (made sure it was properly in place) and then gave the box a good shake. I learnt that from a video I watched online. It worked.

Time to tuck in. My complaint is there was not enough dressing. Even when I ate in, the salads were under dressed and I had to ask for extra.

Hee..hee...hee...now what is that? Popcorn chicken? No lah. When I was walking back to office, I saw the chap fan stall had nam yue fried chicken. I like that a lot! So I tapau some and my salad had an add on :)

The fried chicken I tapau cost me RM2.00, so my lunch for the day was RM24.40. I have to get back to making my own lunch.

  3. Ehhhh, looks very interesting, can choose like that.. I don't like salad, but if you give me this form to fill up, I think I can eat also.. The 5 stuffs which I'll choose are boiled egg, corn, chickpeas, croutons and cheddar.. I don't mind topping up for the premium feta cheese.. As for the sauce, I'll go for either honey dijon or creamy anchovy.. Wah, lots of things can try here.. Oohh, you "kar liew" nam yue chicken and mix into your salad ahh, good idea.. I won't get tired of chap farn dishes, if got fried chicken or nam yu chicken or curry vegetables (with lots of taupok), I wana tapau everyday also :)

    1. It's quite nice to be able to choose from many salad ingredients but can't afford to eat this too often.

  4. You are so cute like the kids who shake their bellies when they forgot to shake the medicine before taking!! The only food that I ever shook was the pot of cooked spaghetti with water drained and olive oil added in. My Italian house mate taught me their Mafia styled to shake the pot to blend the olive oil well..

I love this healthy salad with white chicken meat. You are still on diet aaaah???

  5. My eyes popped out of my socket when I saw the price of this salad....RM22.40!!! My dear, you can make this salad yourself and it will taste just as good, if not better....and, of course, cheaper also! All I see is some shredded purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, sliced (cheap) cucumber (not even Japanese cucumber), sliced raw onions, some frisee and chicken chunks (your leftover roast chicken would taste 10x better). I will only pay that kind of price for a salad if it contains ingredients that I can't get or know how to make and not something so simple that anyone can throw together >.< You should so go back to making your own salads.

  7. What the... RM 24.40... that seems to expensive for a "tapao" lunch leh. For that price, you could've ordered some nice things through DeliverEat and save yourself from going out even. :/

  8. I do it that way too to toss my salad. Learn it from McD Japan as they used to sell salads too.

  11. Hi Phong Hong, I don't mind paying but I must be satisfied with what I get in return in terms of taste, quality and presentation. It's worth sacrificing some time to enjoy good meals throughout the week.

  12. aiyoh why disenchanted with chap fan?? can't find any nice ones around?? i'm instead enchanted with one chap fan near my office, the fried chicken super delicious and the veggie also nice, most importantly, not expensive.. with your RM24 salad (plus chicken) lunch, i guess can have like 4-5 meals in the chap fan stall leh.. back to the salad, with that ordering chit, i would have a hard time choosing, especially the ingredients and dressing, so many choices yet only 5 and 1 respectively.. *sweat*

  13. I like to eat nam yue fried chicken and would definitely take those for my chap fan. I wonder whether all salad bars prices are this expensive. I think the soy taste would totally kill the honey taste. I would go for balsamic vinaigrette as the dressing when I make my own salad. I am too poor to buy from salad bars.

    1. That's the sort of price to expect upwards of RM19 or if less, you will be getting a small portion. I'm making my own salad now, or else I'll broke in no time :D
