Sugar Overload@Every Sundae

After lunch at Hokano, we adjourned to Every Sundae, a soft gelato bar. I spotted this place some months back when my partner and I were on our way to The Ship. Of course I wanted to pay Every Sundae a visit but I never did until now.

Since it was our first time here, the server brought us the menu and explained how it works. You can customize your sundae by choosing the base, the gelato flavor, topping and sauce.

Or to save yourself the headache, you could choose from the 6 Signature Sundaes. It all looked very attractive and my brother went for the Ho-Hojiak, I chose Honey Bunny while my auntie settled for The Dark Side.

You can also opt for the gelato scoop in a cup if you prefer not to have the fancy schamancy sundae. This place also serves beverages and my brother ordered a latte (RM10.00).

After placing our orders at the counter, I took a look around.

These are the toppings for the sundaes.
Their Dairy Land Butterscotch
Cheesecake (RM14.00 per serving)
This is where you get your utensils and extra plates etc.
Our table.
My auntie's The Dark Side (RM16.00) arrived first.

Wow! I like! The Giant Cookie was very crispy. It had a vanilla flavor and on top of this cookie sits the Caramel Popcorn and Deep Dark Chocolate soft gelato.

Then the whole thing is drizzled with Dark Chocolate Fudge and sprinkled with icing sugar. This was actually my choice but I decided to go for another so that we have variety.

This is my Honey Bunny (RM18.00) - Cornflakes Milk Soft Gelato sitting atop two Belgian Waffles with a sprinkling of cornflakes and Caramel Popcorn and drizzled with honey.

Whoa! Very nice and also very sweet. I love the waffles, I love the soft gelato and I love the caramel popcorn. But having said that, this concoction is way too sweet for me. But still...

And the best is yet to come. My brother almost fainted when his order arrived muahahahaha!!

I am still laughing as I look at this Ho-Hojiak (RM21.00) served in a handmade cone. And what the heck is that foamy thing? Apparently that is the Cotton Cloud aka cotton candy.

My brother was very embarrassed holding that cottony thing hah..hah... so I helped him pull off the offending fluff. The ice cream cone looked a whole lot better after that. "I have regained my dignity again" he quipped.

His soft gelato is called The Twist and is a mix of Matcha and Cornflakes Milk Soft Gelato. It is served with Passion Fruit Compote and Strawberry Meringue. I had a bit to taste and it was quite nice.

Let's have another shot at the comical looking Ho-Hojiak hah..hah..hah...

My poor brother had to hold his quirky cone up for the longest time because my auntie was having trouble with her phone camera hah..hah...

I do wish that they would do without the cotton candy because it is extremely sweet and I feel that it does nothing for the gelato except to make the serving look rather bombastic. But that's just my opinion. Maybe kids like this.

I ate half of the cotton candy and helped my auntie finish her sundae. Needless to say, I was on sugar overload and on the verge of a diabetic coma.

It was my turn to pick up the tab. Will I come back? You bet! I want to have The Dark Side all to myself and I will avoid the Cotton Cloud like the plague.

  3. Ahh, this was the detour I thought you went when you were out for Sangkaya. Now, this I would call expensive ice cream. I've been wanting to try also but after seeing it here, they all look super sweet...cotton candy, drizzled with honey, sprinkled with icing sugar....ooo I can't stand sweet! You didn't mention the taste of just the gelato....how was it? I think you'll enjoy Fatbaby's ice cream more...and cheaper too!

    1. Actually, my detour was on the opposite side, same row as Telekom. It's called Soft Srv or something like that. Anyway, you are right about the sundaes here being super sweet. I don't like super sweet either and I was really overloaded.

That's the thing, with all those super sweet embellishments, it sort of distract from the taste of the ice cream. The ice cream was good, but I need to taste it again to be sure hah..hah... What an excuse to go there again! I reckon, it is best to just have the gelato plain and simple to really appreciate what it tastes like,

  4. That seems to be the standard presentation here these days - over here too, everywhere! Can't say I am fond of it - I must be slightly autistic in nature, cannot stand the sight of such a mess. LOL!!!

    1. hah..hah,,,it does look like a big old mess, doesn't it? I don't mind the presentation but I find the add-ons way too sweet. So if you are not into very sweet things, you won't like this at all.

  13. hmmmm, Every Sundae only?? looking at those tempting photos, i already want it Everydae instead, hahaha!! but i think i would like to create my own, and then give it a sexy name, hahaha.. but make sense for first timer to actually try out the recommended combination, and likely to be thrilled like your brother, hahahaha~~ :D

    1. hah..hah..yeah, so thrilled by the cotton cloud :D Now that I have tried their combination, I think I will be confident to create my own on my next visit. Take out what I don't like and substitute for other toppings.

  14. i was scrutinising the second photo on how to create my own sundae.. and i actually was able to make a choice albeit there are so many choices that i want to try.. but for a first time, i will go for this combination:

    base: giant cookies - RM4
soft gelato: salted caramel - RM9
    toppings: honeycomb + NY cheesecake crumbs - RM1.50 + RM2
    sauce: butterscotch - RM1

and my sundae will cost me RM17.50.. and what shall i name it?? hmmm.. "I AM SO SWEEEET YOU WANT A BITE *WINK WINK*"~~ hahahahaha!! :D

    1. Good Grief! RM17.50 for that? It's totally sinful! Muhahaha....

    2. Your creation sounds pretty good. Can't go wrong with salted caramel gelato and butterscotch.

  15. How come the strawberry meringue is not red but bluish green on the hohojiak? Don't think I can bring myself to pay 21 for hohojiak. I can feel the sweetness just looking at it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Mun, that's what I thought too. Why blue color? I did not taste it but I am sure it's not strawberry. Must ask my brother, if he remembers hah..hah.. I agree that RM21 is too pricey.

  17. You all living in KL all crazy one, when you all go out for makan, you go all out. Or maybe it is just you and Kris. WTF... if me, I would throw in the towel after that heavy Japanese meal, not bloody go for ice cream @.@

I blame the waiter/waitress for your brother's predicament. He/she should've warned your brother what he was getting himself into. Which adult in their right frame of mind would knowingly want to order an ice cream surrounded by cotton cloud lah? And why the heck is that called ho hojiak? No correlation at all Hahahaha!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hah..hah... I wonder what Kris has to say :D I don't eat out often so I don't mind (my brother too) spending a bit more on my makan outing. After all, you know PJ/KL prices. We went for the ice-cream because as I mentioned, we don't go out often and used the opportunity to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Die die must have the ice cream!

I don't know, maybe the waiter took it for granted that people will accept the cotton cloud. I also don't understand why it is called Ho-Hojiak :D

      Delete
  18. so each of you choose a different one, patutlah tu, so that you can all taste a bit more more things, no fun if all ordered the same right?? and congratulations, you did not chose the one with cotton cloud, hahaha!! though that actually may make me curious to try it out like your brother.. anyway, i think i won't be embarrassed with that i think, the cotton candy actually looks nice and i actually like eating cotton candy.. or maybe it's not so bad with cotton candy alone, but this whole Ho-Hojiak thing actually looks a little girly, that's why your brother was embarrassed, hahahaha.. i supposed those should be strawberry meringue?? why are they not red or pink, but turquoise??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you like cotton candy, then you won't mind the cotton cloud. I found it terrifyingly sweet. Cannot tahan! Yeah, it is a girly ice cream (I actually found it comical) and we learnt a lesson - don't choose anything that comes with the cotton cloud! The meringue may not be strawberry, maybe they ran out and substitute with other flavor.

  19. Ha ha...I guess the Ho-Hojiak will be the kids' favourite! Between Honey Bunny and the Dark Side, I would definitely go for the Dark Side.

  20. the ones you and your auntie had were more "man" and more suitable for an adult lah i would say, hehehe... i like both, but then like you said they are too sweet, i wonder if they have the "kurang manis" version?? or maybe can suggest them to cut down sugar when making the gelato and toppings?? that is why when it comes to desserts, if i see something "salted" it will actually catch my attention.. i actually find a little bit of saltiness makes desserts a lot tastier.. and if those are not popcorns but hazelnuts, then i would definitely want them!! i am all nuts, hahaha!! :D

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe most people like sweet things and may find the level of sweetness acceptable. Perhaps if we cannot tahan the sweet toppings, can just opt for the gelato by itself. But like that, no thrill! Yup, nuts would make a good topping but they don't have that. Too expensive maybe.
