Pigging Out At The Home of Sticky Bones

This is not a food review per se but more of me telling you about my weekend makan session. After this outing, I cannot look at another rib for at least another 6 months.

My brother and I decided to check out Morganfield's.

We had our fill of ribs at Chicago, and we wanted to source for other restaurants to fulfill our love for ribs. We like big portions. And we got more than what we bargained for at Morganfield's. You will see why I have sworn off ribs for at least another 6 months :)

We saw some posters on the wall.

After studying the very extensive menu, we decided to get a starter. And we both agreed on the Awesome Threesome.

It consisted of an Onion Blossom :

Spicy Chicken Wings :

and Russet Potato Skins :

It was alright. I quite enjoyed the Onion Blossom. The chicken wings were ordinary while the potato skins were too cheesy for me.

By the way, before we tucked in, we were provided with bibs. The waiter will assist you to put on the bibs. It felt kind of funny.

My brother's bib.
Mine.
Because we had appetizers, I decided to order only a half rack of Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs. My brother was more gung ho and ordered a full rack of Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs. He and I had no trouble polishing off our full racks at Chicago and still have space for dessert. We are big eaters. By Malaysian standards at least.

When our orders came, WHOAH!! The ribs were HUMONGOUS! This was my brother's full rack. He almost fainted.

And this was my half rack.

We decided to share so that we could have a taste of each other's selection. And my brother needed help to finish his portion. So this was what I ended up with.

I guess we underestimated the portion sizes here. This is American sized portions and I noted the next table had to pack their unfinished food home. My brother and I were really struggling with our ribs and in the end we had to surrender hah..hah..

We got the waiter to pack our leftovers and the nice guy told us that half a rack is just nice to share between two persons. Not really for us. A half rack for each of us would be just nice. Now we know :) We will be back since we bought a calender and were rewarded with a RM10.00 voucher.

It was my brother's treat and I will get the next one when we return. We walked out of the restaurant with near exploding bellies. Then we saw these :

Very pretty macarons. Would you believe it that I have never tasted macarons? Neither has my brother. We thought of buying one each to try. But when we peered closer to check the price..................

RM4.00 each for that tiny little thing? We are both accountants and you would have to pry our cold hard fingers to pay for that. Anyway, the stall was unattended. So we walked away. Till my next outing, I leave you with these macarons :)

    1. Arthur, it is best to go in a big group of maybe 4 or 5 people. Then you will get to taste more things.

  3. Half rack is just nice for 2 person? If I am the manager and I hear any waiter say that to customers, I will fire him immediately. Dou mai (pouring rice away) ah that fella? Where got encourage customer to order less one?
The rack itself is okay, but if you consider the fries as well, then half rack is just nice for 1 person :D

    1. RG, I have been to places where the waiter/waitress said "enough already" when we wanted to order more. Perhaps they were well meaning. Anyway, for me the half rack would be just nice. Better to go in a group of 3 or 4 or more to eat appetizers, mains and desserts.

    1. Sure or not Louiz? hee..hee... it was really big lah. Half rack OK but full rack I really surrender even if without appetizer and fries. Ask your hubby to take you there. Kids eat for free so it is worthwhile :)

  10. Omg...that's a lot of food! 1/2 a rack for 1 person is enough but with such a huge starter, 1/2 rack also got problem finishing leh. Yes, macaroons are expensive...RM4 for one is common. If you don't like sweet stuff, you won't enjoy this coz it's freaking sweet...it's like a burst of pure melting sugar in your mouth...not for me!!

    1. Yes, we were quite full after the starter. This is best shared among 3-4 people but we just couldn't resist the starters hah..hah... so greedy :) I was just curious about macarons as they look rather cute and pretty. I do not like extremely sweet food but I'll try one just to satisfy curiosity.

Morganfield!! have been planning to go there to give it a try, yet never jadi at all, haha!! now that I'm reading your experience there and I will remind myself to just order a half rack.. I'm not that a small eater or big eater, but at this age, haiz, I must admit I that I just cannot eat much, hahaha!!

    1. SK, I used to be able to eat a lot more. Go lah with your friends. I think a party of 3-4 is just nice for sharing. They also have the sharing platter for 3-4 persons and price wise it could be better than individual orders. Even if cannot finish, can always tapau home :)

    1. The meat was flavourful, tender and falling off the bone. But when you are so stuffed, you can't really savour the yumminess. I thought I couldn't eat dinner but later hungry wor... So I shared the tapaued ribs with my partner. Only then I appreciate the ribs tasted so good!

    1. Ola, they were gigantic portions hah..hah.. I think macarons are expensive because they are quite time consuming to make. Which explains why I will never bake them hah..hah...

  15. Hi Phong Hong,
Definitely very huge portions! The person who took the order should have advised you on the size of the portions! hahaha! The ribs looks delicious though. And the Awesome Threesome looks really nice! One portions of the ribs, diet all gone! :)

    1. Hi Joyce! The waiters appear to be rather inexperienced. Usually they will tell you if the orders are too much for you to handle hah..hah.. But yes, the ribs were delicious. I only enjoyed them when I had the leftovers for dinner.
