My partner and I had a datenite at The Charcoal Grill a few weeks ago but I forgot to take a photo of our dinner. LOL!
That (unfortunate) evening we ordered from their Seasonal Menu where they had an item - Tonkatsu, a breaded and deep fried pork chop. I was a bit mong cha cha (blur) that evening and I ordered one each thinking that the tonkatsu came with sides.
Nope. It came just as is with a generous topping of tartar sauce. The tonkatsu was good - well seasoned and fried till crispy with the meat tender and moist - though I did not appreciate the too generous serving of tartar sauce that was plonked onto the meat.
Fast forward another couple of weeks later, we were there again.
This is the Seasonal Menu that I mentioned (but the Tonkatsu is no longer there). We ordered the Chunky Beef Nachos with Chilli Con Carne & Pico De Gallo to share.
It was not quite successful because the corn chips were soft and not crispy. In terms of taste I would say that it was all right but I won't order this again.
For my partner, I ordered the Signature Marinated Pork Chop with Garlic Egg Fried Rice and Grilled Vegetables.
My partner was very happy with his meal and he declared that the pork chops were very good. It is very difficult to get a compliment from him and when he does, it means that the food is really good.
A few days before our visit, I had lunch there just to test the Signature Marinated Pork Chop (before I ordered them for my partner).

Ah, I must go and eat this pork chop and Caesar Salad. So delicious 😋🤤
ReplyDeleteHave a good day! Enjoy your lunch walk and chit chat with your mom! 🌹
Thank you! I hope you get to eat the pork chops. Your spouse would love it too.
DeleteDear friend, I absolutely love all your photos and the quote! I wouldn't like soft corn chips, either! Not sure if these are available in your area or not, but Fritos corn chips, sold in bags in various grocers and other stores, are pretty tasty! I prefer the regular corn (original) flavour, but they also have a barbecue one, which I find kind of strong. I do like barbecue, but if it is too strong it isn't for me.
ReplyDeleteI do like Caesar salad. I also like pork chops.
I have to search the supermarket. I used to buy Doritos. LOL! I used to be a chips addict. Plain is definitely better because some flavors can be too strong.
DeleteI would prefer the Tonkatsu original and authentic without the tartar sauce too.🫙 Today will be a good day for you and me!
ReplyDeleteToday was generally good for me and I hope it is good for you too!
DeleteMy breakfast this morning was at Mac, sausage McMuffin burger with hash brown and a big cup of warm Americano ☕ coffee. The McMuffin was great. Savoury and enjoyable with the cheese. The hash brown was crispy outside and moist inside. By the way, I would choose what you ordered for your partner too.
ReplyDeleteWah! Nice breakfast you had!
DeleteEh, why didn't your partner alert you that you had not taken any photos? ;D You thought the tonkatsu came with sides...meaning this seasonal menu is not part of the "entitled to the buffet when you order a main dish"? P/S: So funny...have to taste test the pork chops first...mcm royalty...lol! :D
ReplyDeleteMy partner wasn't feeling well that day and he left the ordering to me. Oh, there is no buffet here. The one with buffet is The Rustic Grill which by the way revamped their menu set again. LOL! Ah, I had to taste lah to make sure it is acceptable for him. If there is a job as food taster, I will send in my resume. LOL!
