Yesterday, before heading out for breakfast, I stopped by Jaya Grocer to pick up supplies for my mum.
At the cashier counter, the lady ahead of me buat hal (gave trouble). When the cashier rang up the tab for her purchase, she immediately recorded a voice note on her phone.
She kept doing that a few times. I was so annoyed (and so was the cashier). She should have, in my opinion, spoken up immediately instead of wasting our time by recording the voice notes.
Apparently, she was making the purchase for someone else and the price was different from what was displayed (and perhaps earlier conveyed to her). Hence the voice notes to this person.
So one of the staff went to check the price. I guess I cannot blame the customer as it was not her fault (incorrect price tagging does happen and causes a lot of inconvenience).
Because the cashier was unable to override the transaction to do mine first (as I politely requested), I moved to another counter.
Then at Damansara Jaya, I went to Parkway Laundrette to buy The Star for mum. This laundrette also houses a florist and a small mini market.
There I encountered another customer from hell. She was loud and overbearing, tapping her umbrella on a package of laundry, insisting loudly that the staff must paste a note on the bag to indicate the date of collection (although the staff had already recorded the date in the shop booklet). In the USA, they call this type of person a Karen.
Anyway, I paid for the newspaper via e-wallet (and hence was not held up by this Karen) and walked next door for my brekkie.
Coffee is a must! But never cold brew. Somehow I have not developed a taste for cold brew.
A hot Latte was my choice for the morning.
From the side order section - Scrambled Eggs. Now I notice that they even have avocado and bread as a side order. How come I didn't see that before? Maybe it's a new addition or I wasn't observant.
Watch here. There is nothing wrong with avocados per se but the way they are handled - artificial ripening, avocado products (like guacamole) being laced with green peas, avocado oil being mixed with seed oils etc.
Hi dear friend, I am sorry that you ran into two Karens today. Not sure if you have ever seen the videos on YouTube with the Royal Guards and their horses outside of Buckingham Palace, but they run into Karens almost on a daily basis, and they are all videotaped! Sometimes the horse will kick or bite the person (understandably, as they are, after all, there to protect the guards and the palace).
ReplyDeleteI love the quotation, so true!
Your scrambled eggs do look delicious and it sounds as if you really enjoyed them! So happy to know this. Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoy your posts!
Lucky my name is not Karen, LOL !!! Maybe the Karen at the Laundry Shop had bad experiences and miscommunication before that is why she could not trust verbal communication. But this type of neighbourhood/community shops they build on mutual trust and if they delay by one day or two, you have no choice but to think of other ways to "find a solution" to come back on another day.
ReplyDeleteYour scrambled eggs sounded tasty with buttery taste, my kind of eggs too. "Never cold brew", hah hah, remember "never say never". But I am still glad you enjoyed your eggs and your caffeine! As for Avocado, I have no "talent" in choosing the whole avocado fruit so I can only enjoy Avocado drink and cut avocado dining out. I agree with your Poster/Quote, learn to count our blessings, we will feel happier! Have a great day ahead! See you tmr Mid Week Wednesday. Ciao!
