Food Trucks

There are many food trucks in Damansara Utama/Uptown

Food trucks are now a familiar sight in many areas. On one of my walks one day, I will check out all the food trucks in my area. They are at almost every corner selling food and drinks.

This is Ah Maa's Taiwan Rice Roll. It is parked at the side of Public Bank.

These are inspired by Japanese Onigiri or Korean Kimbap.

These look very interesting and tasty.

I wonder what is the Dinosaur Rice Roll. It is probably a super sized one judging from the price RM35.00.

Parked behind Ah Maa's Taiwan Rice Roll is this yellow truck Mad Bebek. Bebek is Indonesian for duck.

I have to check this out as well one of these days. On my carb day of course.

They have three levels of chili heat - from the mildest - sweat starter to tongue burner - and the strongest - game over hah..hah...

Besides food truck, there also have these makeshift stalls that are set up in the morning and leave once they are sold out. This one is strategically located outside Public Bank.

These are mostly for the breakfast crowd and they usually sell nasi lemak, fried noodles, karipap (curry puffs) and kueh (traditional cakes).

This one is opposite the Damansara Utama police station.

There is also another one opposite The Starling.

I am eating beef trimmings again. I only buy them if the meat is fatty.

Now I cook these using my pyrex glass cover.

I try to avoid using (non-stick) baking paper to reduce exposure to chemicals. It fits beautifully in my air fryer.

Simply seasoned with Redmond's Real Salt. So good!

A lot more affordable than these for sure.

  1. I love the red and yellow colours of this truck and the menu! Very attractive and eye-catching! The quote is lovely, as always!
So you like the beef when the meat is fatty? I assume this is because there is more flavour? I always find there is a lot of flavour in fat and bone! For example, I love pork chops but the ones with the bone, not the boneless ones. I do trim the fat off my meat, but I leave a little on, because it does give it flavour and makes it moister. At least this is what I think.
Thank you so much for sharing your posts, and I enjoy reading them and seeing your wonderful photos.

    1. Oh yes, fatty meat is a lot tastier than lean. Me too, prefer bone-in meat instead of fillet. The bones makes it tastier. Thank you so much for your visits and comments, I appreciate it very much!

  3. really uniquely Malaysia....one can find random kiosk/food trucks/stalls in the middle of walkway, in front of police station or bank, or at parking lot. Sometimes just at unexpected place! Then it vanishes out-of-sudden a few weeks/months later and another one pop up!

    1. If I remember correctly, there was a Singapore blogger, Luan (her blog is Extra Virgin Chef, she stopped blogging many years already) who quit her job to run a food truck. That was a long time ago and I did not keep up with her.

  7. Ya, I also see more food trucks in my neighbourhood. I guess the cost of doing business is much cheaper. Hopefully, one day we'd see more unique food being sold from trucks like what we see on food shows (in the US).
