Coimbatore Chicken Briyani@Krishna Curry House

After our banana leaf lunch at Krishna Curry House, my brother and I returned as promised, for the briyani. My mum mentioned to us a while back that she wanted to eat briyani the next time she visits. So I told my brother that we should scout around for good briyani. I always find excuses to eat and this is a good one don't you think?

We have seen this sign many times but every time we come here, we are compelled to eat banana leaf rice instead. We reckon that white rice goes better if we want to savor the curries. But the mission for the day was briyani tasting. So Coimbatore Chicken Briyani it was.

We also added an order of our favorite mutton curry (again!).

This was how it was served, in metal pots with a ladle and a hard boiled egg each. There is also a small serving of the curry gravy and an onion relish.

This is a raw onion relish. I'm guessing it is mixed with yogurt. Generally speaking, I do not like plain yogurt or yogurt dressing. But eaten with curry, the yogurt taste is overpowered by the curry and that makes it palatable to me.

My brother was not too thrilled with the raw onions (though he eats raw onions) and offered me to finish the whole lot. I was more than happy to accept.

We were glad when the server came back with vegetables. That day the vegetables were acar, radish and spinach. We helped ourselves before the server took it away to refill and serve other tables.

This is my briyani with a whole chicken leg buried in the rice. We were given banana leaves and I scooped my briyani onto my banana leaf. I discovered that the serving portion for one person is very generous. Perfect for me! If you are a small eater, this is best shared.

There was still quite a bit of briyani in the pot. What you see is not all.
This serving is big and very suitable for big eaters like my brother and I. We were very quiet as we delightfully ploughed into our very flavorful briyani.

We also enjoyed the mutton curry to the max. This is sooooo good! On the suggestion of the server, we also got ourselves a rasam each.

It does not look very impressive but the taste packs a powerful punch. I realized that this is the crab rasam I saw advertised on my earlier visit. This Crab Rasam is really good. You can taste the crab and spices. Too bad that I was too stuffed to finish my rasam. I only managed to drink slightly more than half.

By the end of the meal, we were very full and very satisfied. I think my mum and dad would enjoy the briyani here very much. Well, should we get another craving for banana leaf rice or briyani, we will come back to Krishna Curry House. There's no need to go anywhere else. Burppp.......

    1. yeah, I think generally the nasi briyani is served in huge portions like this huh?? I think I can still manage to finish up the whole thing, but really have not tried that for some time and I started to be uncertain about my "capacity" at this age, haha~~

    2. nice side dishes given and even CRAB rassam too, that was very generous.. I actually think with the combination of those dishes and rassam, it actually helps to balance the spiciness and heatiness of the curry, do you think so?? I realize usual curry can send me to toilet right away, but not BLR leh~~ :p

    3. When I first had rasam, I didn't like it. But somehow, this crab rasam I like pulak. It was very tasty with crab flavor. I would probably order that again and enjoy it better the next visit.

  7. Don't know why but I've never really liked rasam.....when it comes free, I'll just take a few sips. Wow, the portion size is very humongous...won't be able to finish on my own but if shared it might look like we're taking advantage of the refillable veggies >.< Looks like this time the server did not leave the 'take all you want' veggies on your table....they must have realised their mistake the last time....wakakaka! :D

    1. I didn't like my first taste of rasam but somehow I liked this one. Maybe it's because of the crab and it has that seafood soup kind of flavor.

hah..hah...yes, they probably blackmark us :D

  8. Muahahahaha!!! You made me laugh on a happy Friday! I love that greediest quote like ...."delightfully ploughed into our very flavorful briyani....!!!!" Sorry to say that only gluttons like us know how to express potfuls of such hilarious words.

I must look out for this place too as I eat Indian Food very often esp the famous Lotus Restaurant chain ~ like the Jalan Gasing outlet.

  13. What the heck is rasam?? Is it a soup or a beverage? Seeing crab, must be a soup, but then it is served in a mug. @.@

    1. Rasam is a soup. I suppose it is easier to consume in a mug, no need spoon :D

  14. They also provide free flow vegetables for briyani like banana leaf rice? Now I must definitely go eat the mutton curry at this place.
