How I Stay Slim

Wahahaha!!! If only I knew this when I was younger.

I used to starve myself and then have a binge fest. No more!

Eat less carbs. More protein and fats. Avoid processed foods. And move, move, move!

Monday to Friday I walk for about 1 hour. Out of necessity. I am my mum's GrabFood LOL!

Ah, first I want to talk about sidewalks. In Damansara Uptown the side walk is raised and to get from the sidewalk to the shops, you need to navigate steps.

Some steps do not have handrails. It may look benign and no big deal but for (some) senior citizens who are not physically able, it is a big problem. They have poor balance and need to hold onto something.

This is good, handrails and guardrails.

OK. This is my gym. The pedestrian bridge that connects Damansara Utama (DU) to Damansara Jaya (DJ).

Climb up the steps.

Another flight of steps.

Crossing the bridge.

Down the steps.

Some more steps.

Final steps. Then I walk to the shop to get The Star newspaper for mum and then walk all the way to my brother's house. Drop the lunch box and newspaper and walk back again.

Walking back to DU. Crossing the pedestrian bridge again.

I suspect The Rustic Grill has folded up.

The Starling concourse was empty after the travel promotion ended.

But soon it was busy again.

Home Cleaning Made Easy. I love home cleaning and that is also part of my exercise hah..hah...

There are many vending machines at the mall. This is just one of them.

And even a photo booth.

As I was heading out, something made me turn around.

Oh! Aren't these pretty?

Walk away! Walk away! LOL!

Recent early meals.

Chap fan, no fan (mixed rice, no rice) hah..hah...

Upstairs at the mall, an amusement center is opening next to the soon to open malatang place.

I don't know if kids these days like going to amusement centers.

  1. Aiyoyo, your basic rule of staying slim, I think everybody knows (even when they were young). Less carbs. More proteins. No sugar. Exercise. But adhering/keeping up to that rule is the problem...lol!

    1. Honestly, when I was young, I did not know about low carb and the importance of protein and fats. I also did not know about the danger of processed food and sugar. LOL! How ignorant of me! My mum was of the opinion that protein should be minimized and that eating rice (and loads of vegetables) was the way to good health. And my grandparents were of no help, indulging me with soft drinks and lots of junk food and kueh (what kids love to eat and drink). Exercise I knew when my mum made me exercise. Exercise alone is of no use if we eat the wrong things.

  2. Dear friend, Yes indeed. Lots of walking, eating good food, more protein, good fat, cut back on bad fat and carbs. Housework is exercise. Walking is exercise. Very little, if any, sugar and sodium.

  5. It is true that even when people know this, the majority of them would find it difficult to follow this way of eating since temptations are everywhere.
