Yogurt Failure

This happened many months ago before I purchased a new yogurt maker.

This was the old yogurt maker that I bought from a direct selling company. That was years ago. Usually participating in direct selling company is a result of being polite to relatives and friends. No more!

It needed preheating which is fine.

This was my third attempt (first using fresh pasteurized milk and then UHT milk). This time I used powdered milk (as per the instruction manual).

When I first used this equipment, I bought organic powdered milk from the same direct selling company.

Powdered milk is not so convenient because it tends to get clumpy.

So I strained the milk and poured it into the plastic inner pot.

Incubate 6-8 hours or longer if necessary.

The yogurt separated into curds and whey, nothing wrong with that.

It just doesn't look good, that's all. All three attempts, the yogurt turned out like that.

I did not throw it away because it was still good to eat. Simply stir to make it creamy and homogenized. It wasn't a total failure but who wants yogurt looking like that. That's why I retired this yogurt maker. The new one worked like a charm.

  1. Good morning! At times there are hits and misses when purchasing things. That is why I am "brand loyal". If I bought something from a stall and it is good, I will always go back to the same stall to buy from them. Good that you are happy with your new yogurt maker.
