Today is Merdeka Day (Independence Day). Malaysia celebrates her 59th year of independence. Yay! And guess what? I'm celebrating too because yesterday I received something in the mail.

I Hate Meetings. Bah!

I came back from a meeting at almost 1:00pm. I hate meetings. Except the ones with my brother. All other meetings, I dread. Dread. Dread. Dread. 

Zucchini? Cake It!

Zucchini is a vegetable that made a poor first impression on me. It was roasted but not quite cooked through and served with a not very impressive roasted chicken. That happened several years ago at a restaurant.

Roasted But Not Chicken

I used to think that roasted vegetables were the worst thing ever. Ever. My first intro to roasted veggie were the very bland zucchini (and some other veggies that I can't recall) that accompanied my roasted chicken at Italianese many, many years ago.

Lunch In A Bottle

This is nothing new. Mason Jar meals were the rage at one time. I remember looking at the beautiful jars of food in wonder. In particular salads which looked so fetching layered in a jar.

Stainless Steel Doggie Bag

Now what is this all about? That up there is my little stainless steel food container cum doggie bag. I stash it neatly into my handbag. It comes in handy when there are leftovers when I dine out. What? Leftovers?

Bliss In A Salad Bowl

Finally, some decent baby spinach for my salad. One weekend at Aeon I was very nosy. I was at the check out counter and I took a peek into the trolley of the lady in front of me.

One day as I was walking in the neighborhood, I noticed that a shop lot was being renovated. A light shop used to occupy that space. I was hoping that it would be a restaurant or a cafe.

Low Carbing When Eating Out

This bowl of delicious salad happened a few months ago. When? I forget. I was at Du Viet Uptown Damansara for lunch. At the time I was on my low-carb eating plan (yet again). So. No rice. No noodles. Though I was really hankering for some beef noodles.

Lately I've been seeing photos of pretty Smoothie Bowls. They look so appetizing. A smoothie served in a bowl and topped with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I am sure it's expensive when you eat that at a cafe.

It's been six weeks now since I started my low carb eating plan. These days we don't say diet because diet is a very tired word. 

Date Night On A Cheat Night

When I work on Saturdays there is an incentive. Date night! That's simply because I am too tired to cook. I  used to come home at 3pm or 4pm and start baking. Then a little later I start dinner. Not anymore. I have no energy. Getting older I suppose.

FAT is a dirty word. These days we don't say fat but we say plus sized. In other words, women like me have more flesh than you. Flesh, not fat, alright?

I was home on a weekend. As usual, I do my housework. Another thing I like to do is poke around my pantry to find hidden treasures. I found this. Booze. Hah!

Rotten Salad

My maiden rant post dead ahead. I am angry. I am very, very angry. Last Sunday I went grocery shopping. I browsed the salad section and chanced upon packets of Baby Spinach. I love Baby Spinach! So I took a packet and inspected it.

Food Prep! Hers

Sunday. The busiest day of the week for me. This is the day I cook loads of food for the week. I know, not ideal for most of you. But I did mention before that I can eat food that has been cooked a few days ahead. So. Why not?

Molten Chocolate Care, Damansara Uptown

For a moment I couldn't spell Happy. That's because I had too much chocolate coursing down my veins and into my brain.

Does anybody like Tasty? I love watching their videos because they make cooking and baking look so simple. Of course they are not simple because what you see is just the main process itself where everything looks slick, beautiful and delicious, all accompanied by catchy music.
