Nigella's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake

In the past, all my chocolate cake photos look like black blobs that no amount of editing could help, rendering them useless to post. But at long last, I can take a decent photo. The secret?

My Auntie's Sweet and Sour Sticky Ribs

My Auntie is a very good cook. And an adventurous one too. She will tune in to all those Taiwanese cooking shows and replicate the dishes in her kitchen.

Chocolate Orange Ring Cake

This cake tastes as good as it looks. I'll admit that there was a whole lot of spatula, spoon and plate licking in the process of baking this cake hah..hah...hah...

Oriental Style Pork and Potato Stew

I was brainstorming the other day (this happened two months ago, this is a stale post hah..hah..) to decide what to cook for a Sunday dinner. And that was a Tuesday, mind you. I like to plan ahead. I have to have a schedule and I like my household run in military precision. Call me mad, but that's how I roll.

My Lemony Chicken

Please excuse my grubby looking chicken. It was unplanned. This roast chicken came about due to a failed bake (the one that ended up buried in the compost bin).

Madeira Cake

No more! No more of this business of cakes with low butter content. That is my stand after baking this exotic sounding cake.

Fried Rice with Bacon and BBQ Sauce

Again, this plate of carbohydrates is not for me :( It's for you know who. I cooked this fried rice on a Saturday morning for my partner to take to work. He works Saturdays and sometimes he comes home at 5:00pm for his lunch. That's right 5:00pm.

Mummy's Spaghetti Sauce

Yup, I sneaked in some carbs during the weekend. Breaking my vow to avoid carbs until I lose at least another 8-10lbs. tsk...tsk..tsk...

A Lunch Treat For My Auntie

A couple of weeks ago my brother and I went to Umai-Ya Japanese Restaurant for lunch and we were very pleased with what we had there. We promised that we would be back soon. And it was perfect that our Auntie is here for a holiday and we decided to take her for a treat last Saturday.

My Simple Fried Beehoon

This is what I like to prepare for a simple lunch. All I need is beehoon (dried vermicelli), some meat, vegetables and seasoning. It is a totally fuss free dish, everything goes into the wok, and stir, stir, stir. It's got carbohydrates, protein and vegetables. A well balanced meal, don't you think?

Pumpkin with Minced Meat and Basil

Last Friday my partner took me to a Thai restaurant for dinner. It was our first time there and as usual he left the ordering to me. "My boss", he pointed to me when the waitress approached. He always does that.

Canadian Lemon Pound Cake : LTU Flour

Hey Ivy! Look what you made me do?  I am baking with lemons for the very first time! And I made lemon glaze for the first time too! Thank you for sharing your Canadian Lemon Pound Loaf which got me hallucinating for days hah..hah...I mean look at the nice texture of your cake and that lemon icing dripping down the sides. Beh tahan liao!

It's a Jungle Out There.......

....and I am talking about my garden (because I ran out of food posts). Where things grow and flourish at their own pace, undisturbed. Where herbs and unidentified plants appear spontaneously and unplanned.
