Chocolate Banana Mousse

This has got to be one of the easiest desserts ever. Easy in the sense that it is just a matter of mashing up some very ripe bananas and mixing the whole lot with melted chocolate and whipped cream. But assembling the dessert is another story. It does require a certain degree of finesse of which I have very little.

Spaghetti With Pork Chops and Tomatoes

I was craving for pasta. Gimme my carbs!! To borrow a terminology from Dexter, I gave in to my Dark Passenger. Dexter's Dark Passenger kills but mine eats.

Pumpkin Butter Cake

Last year, someone bought a brand new Faber cake mixer just like mine. And he used it for the first time to bake a Legendary Pumpkin Cake. It was legendary all right. Because the cake became a pumpkin kuih. And his cake mixer is apparently possessed because it can talk.

Mad Cooking 3 - Frozen

Frozen rice that is. How original. I don't know if anyone else freezes cooked rice. You see, I don't eat rice most of the time but my partner is a rice bin. I mean "farn thong". He can't live without rice and when I cook, inevitably there will be one portion leftover as I can't cook only one portion. My rice cooker can't handle that.

Nutella Cake

Does any one of you talk to yourself? I have this nasty affliction and to the uninitiated, you may think that I am highly disturbed (which I am but that's besides the point). It helps me to focus especially when I am doing something intense. Like figuring out the balancing charge or balancing allowance arising from fixed asset disposals. And when I get it right you will hear a booming "Brilliant Madam! You are freakin' brilliant!" coming from my room.

Fig and Apple Cake

Are you familiar with figs? I have heard of them but never actually seen one myself. They are my latest discovery. Dried figs, not the fresh ones. They look all wrinkled and whitish and could be mistaken for 'asam boi' at a glance.

Crispy Smashed Chicken

There is nothing spectacular about this dish. It is just a bunch of bashed up boneless skinless chicken breasts which are dredged in seasoned flour and then pan fried. Hang on a second. Chicken breasts? Skinless? Is this PH's blog?

A Treat for Me@Epicuro

Last weekend I went back to work. I actually enjoy working weekends because there is minimal or no disturbance  and I can concentrate and get my work done a lot more efficiently. And I was actually feeling pretty happy. That's when I decided to go to Youtube and listen to songs while going about my chores. I found some bands that I used to love. Like EZO, the now defunct Japanese rock band. I cranked up the volume because there was only one other person at the far end of the office.

Strawberry Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette

I never liked strawberries in the past. I mean fresh strawberries. Any other form of strawberries like strawberry jam, strawberry ice-cream, strawberry milkshake, I like a lot. Why? Because fresh strawberries from the supermarket are a tasteless lot. I don't know, maybe it's just me. But all this changed when Korean strawberries came along.

Steamed Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

I did say that I was going to blog about the steamed version of Chocolate Buttermilk Cake. But the problem was that I couldn't get buttermilk. I know I can make buttermilk on my own by mixing milk with lemon juice but I didn't want to do that. I like the one that I can buy from the supermarket. But it is quite hard to get as it is always out of stock. In fact I saw a few cartons on Saturday and I thought I would come back on Sunday to buy it. But on Sunday, there was not a carton in sight. Hmmm...so there are other people who like Paul's buttermilk too.

My Oink Oink Vegetable Soup

It was the second day of new year and I was happily hanging around in the house. I took a day off from work to enjoy the long weekend. I was so happy and so relaxed. This is what retirement must be like :)

Roasted Duck Salad

Happy New Year everyone! Let me start the new year with some healthy eating. This is what I had for lunch yesterday. Oh no, I did not roast the duck hah..hah..too much trouble and I would rather pay someone else to do it. The duck was actually leftovers from last year :D
