A new chicken rice shop opened in Damansara Uptown. Yay! So what did I do?

Spicy Sweet and Sour Fish
I heard someone say that fish is brain food. Apparently it can boost your memory. I do wish that I had eaten more fish in my younger days.

Thai Style Beef Salad
The other day when I made my way to a new Thai eatery, Thai Beef Salad was on the menu. I did not order it because I reckon for the price charged, I might not get enough beef and that would leave me unsatisfied (how presumptuous).

Limes From My Garden
It was always my dream to have fresh limes that I could harvest from my garden. Limes that I could safely eat whole, skin and all, without harming myself with pesticides.

Red Hot Mee Goreng Pedas!
Last month I attended a seminar. During tea break at around 10:00 a.m. refreshments were served. As I noticed all these years, the food served during tea breaks are predominantly carbohydrates. Of course, right?

Best Cauliflower Dish?
I am not really a fan of cauliflower, though I do enjoy cauliflower from time to time in dishes like mixed fried vegetables and salads. I have also, in my desperation to satisfy my craving for rice, attempted a cauliflower fried rice.

Spicy Cucumber Acar (Acar Timun)
Here is the recipe for the acar timun (cucumber pickles) that I made and served with my Nasi Beriani Hujan Panas, in case anyone is interested. This acar complements the savory rice and curry beautifully.

Siakap Garam Kunyit
This garam kunyit dish is a popular one in my family. My mum likes to cook fish this way. This recipe can also be used for chicken or beef.

Japanese Curry Nice Ah?
Update : Hokano has closed down.
One weekend my brother and I went for lunch. I thought of taking him to Rakuzen (which we have never been) at The Starling but my brother wanted to have his Sashimi Bento fix at Hokano@Uptown Damansara.

Salted Egg Yolk Torture
It was a Saturday afternoon when I embarked on a session of self-torture. I do that all the time. I decided not to go to work so that I can sit back and relax. And what did I do?

Rib Eye Steak, Medium Rare Please!
After cooking a steak and finding out that it was still raw (which some of you told me is medium rare), I was determined to do better.

Bye Bye Tesco
My partner and I used to do our Friday evening grocery run at Tesco. That's because I need vegetables and other foodstuff to cook on Saturday.

Nasi Beriani Hujan Panas
What a dramatic name, right? How do you translate that into English? Nasi Beriani Hujan Panas = Hot Showers Briyani. Or Hot Rain Briyani. Sounds weird?

Tang Room@The Starling : The Case of the Miniature Chicken
It was Saturday evening on the 8th day of Chinese New Year. My partner and I wanted to have a nice dinner and we decided to visit Tang Room at The Starling.

Apple Yogurt Cake
Another thing I found while cleaning my fridge was a bag of green apples. Hmmm.... I bought these on a whim when I was so motivated to bake apple pie bars.

Garlic Parmesan Smashed Potatoes
I did a bit of spring cleaning before the Chinese New Year and one of my targeted areas was my fridge. Hah! This is one place in the house where UFOs (unidentified fridge objects) go to hide.

A Nutty Cake
Quite some time ago, my partner and I were gifted with a Walnut Cake. It was a very good cake. However, had we not been told that it was a Walnut Cake, we would have been none the wiser.
