Creamy Peanut Salad Dressing : LTU Milk

As you all know, I love salads and a great salad needs a great salad dressing. There are many types and brands of salad dressings on the supermarket shelves but nothing beats making your own at home. I found another fantastic homemade salad dressing last Thursday courtesy of Mr Arthur Wee. This is his late aunt's recipe and it uses ingredients that we can easily find at home or the supermarket.

Mysore Mutton : AFF Indian Subcontinent

My uncle once said that when eating out, always order something that you don't get to eat at home. Don't order chicken because you always have chicken at home. But I like chicken.....

Biscuit Layered Cheesecake : LTU Milk

Milk is the theme on LTU this month and hosted by Tze of Awayofmind Bakery House. I am one of those people who does not drink milk. Yah, yah, I know it is supposed to be good for me - the calcium and all. I was told that when I was small, I stopped drinking milk after my grandfather took away my milk bottle. Apparently, I refused to drink from a cup. I guess the milk didn't taste as nice sipped from a cup and I preferred my "guleng kuan" (milk bottle). As a small kid, there's nothing like spending a lazy afternoon in bed sucking at your milk bottle and clutching on to your smelly bolster, right? A cup? Where's the fun? Hence the protest which lasted until now hah..hah...

Chilli Chicken : AFF Indian Subcontinent

Long ago, I used to frequent an Indian food stall operating outside a coffee shop. The stall was run by an Indian lady (whom I call auntie) and her dry chicken curry was my favorite dish. Her dhall curry was also fantastic and I told her how much I loved it. She was very pleased and told me that I could come over anytime and take her dhall curry for free! That was very generous of her but of course I did not take on her kind offer.

Light Blueberry Cheesecake : LTU Milk

This cake is phenomenal! So light, so melt-in-your-mouth, so ethereal. It's like eating slices of cloud because it floats on your tongue. It was a revelation to me that sliced cheddar cheese can be just as good as cream cheese. For those of you who have a phobia for cheese and the smell (yes, you mummy), don't you worry one bit. There is no cheese smell at all and if I didn't tell you, you would not have guessed that there are 6 slices of cheddar cheese in this cake.

Indian Style Fried Fish : AFF Indian Subcontinent

Frying fish is not my forte. I still fear of the loud sizzling of the hot oil when the fish goes into the pan. And I get ready to run before the spluttering oil gets to me. Cabut......!!!

Mango Chutney : AFF Indian Subcontinent

This Mango Chutney had me licking the spoon, the spatula and if I could, the wok. It was so good that when I closed my eyes, I was transported back to the banana leaf restaurant hah..hah...

Nasi Goreng Kampung (Malay Style Fried Rice)

I have a weakness for fried rice especially fried rice from Chinese restaurants. Whenever I see fried rice on the menu, I am compelled to order it. The "wok hei" aroma of fried rice from restaurants and hawker stalls is quite hard to replicate at home. I wouldn't want to risk burning the house down by turning up the stove at full blast. Besides, I don't have the strength to lift the wok with one hand and toss the rice in the air. Even frying rice on normal mode creates quite a mess on my stove top tsk...tsk...tsk...

Chorizo Salad

Some time ago, my brother brought a Chorizo Salad to my house for our family dinner party. It was delicious! I asked for the recipe and then I forgot all about it. Then last Sunday I spotted Chorizo at a pork outlet at the supermarket. I immediately thought of my brother's salad and bought the sausages. Back home, after the Chorizo was defrosted, I opened up the packaging. That was when I realised that this was not Chorizo as Chorizo should be!

Masala Mutton - AFF Indian Subcontinent

At long last, I have gathered enough strength and courage to attempt a full blown Indian curry. Just look at the long list of ingredients.

Depression And Birth Of A Blog

Today is 1st May and it is a HOLIDAY! I am feeling relaxed and happy. The last two days have been quite stressful chasing a deadline and I am glad for a peaceful day today. Another cause for good cheer is the lifting of the water rationing exercise. What a relief!
