I have forgotten because the last time I looked at it was when I studied dietetics at university (that was like 36 years ago).
Recently the US administration unveiled the new Food Pyramid in the government's effort to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
I hope our government would look into this new dietary recommendation to address the health of Malaysians.
It pays to watch what you eat because it can influence your health both mental and physical. It also determines how well you age (diet works in tandem with other lifestyle parameters like exercise etc).
I got carried away back in October 2025 to December 2025 with my carbohydrate intake. Guess what happened?
I put on body fat (my waistline bloomed one inch bigger) but that was the least of my problems. The anxiety and depression came back and I felt the full effect in December 2025.
I wake up in the morning and a wave of depression hits me. I lost my calm where there were days when I was gripped with anxiety (I also get angry easily) and I find my heart racing.
I also lost my clear train of thought and mental fog set in. On very busy days I cannot focus and I felt like I am falling apart. That was how I used to be (prior to adopting the carnivore way of eating) and indeed it is very scary.
It has been 13 days since my reset and on day 12 (Friday) the anxiety and depression lifted. I can think clearly again and I felt light and happy. You won't believe it until you experience this yourself.
So lesson learnt.
I pack it for lunch.
The Sandwich of the Day is Beef Sandwich on Fridays. Well, no sandwich for me. I close salad with beef as the protein (it was unfortunately on the dry side >.<) and requested for the dressing to be served on the side.
On my walk back to the office I felt clear headed and my energy level was great. This is how I should eat - proteins and non-starchy vegetables. Carbs may be added back later but I must be mindful not to get carried away!

Dear friend, the quotation is fantastic! Lovely photos! The meal in your first photo looks scrumptious!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this info about the new food pyramid. For people who feels anxiety and the depression feelings, it is worth to try the carnivore way. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend 😊
Homemade food and not going out to resist food temptation is so true which I agree, I do that on certain days, usually weekdays or days when I WFH. But....yes but, sadly the new food pyramid does not work for the commoner and the poor, we all know canned processed food are cheaper. Or when people have no time to whip up a meal simply because they are working or they want convenience. I love the quote, it's wonderful! Thanks for sharing. And enjoy your weekends dear.

ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating how much our diet affects both our physical and mental health. I totally relate to how a change in eating habits can influence your mood and energy levels. The impact you’ve described is eye-opening! I’m curious to learn more about how doctors in Forest Hills, Queens might approach these types of dietary resets.
