Newbies In Damansara Uptown

Yesterday, I revisited Ding Xiang Sang Nyuk Noodles because I was craving for liver.

After satisfying my craving, I took a walk along the same row of shops and discovered new restaurants/cafes. This block of shophouse is along the same row as The Ship.

I may have mentioned that this row is a "dead zone" where many eateries have come and gone. But hope springs eternal.

This cafe has a cute name. Mun-Chi.

It's a sandwich shop.

OMG! The sandwiches look so good.

The current promo is a free drink and hashbrown with purchase of a sandwich.

They also serve breakfast.

And tea time deals.

A few doors away is JDY Jiu Duo Yun Bakery & Cafe.

This is their soft opening.

Their specialty - Signature Layer Toast.

And then there's Mr Waffle. The menu was at the counter, so I did not get to snap a picture of it.

Towards the end of the block is Sheung Wan Noodle House.

Tea Time Set. Nothing that would attract me.

Set Lunch. Ah! I see beef! I would have to skip the noodles.

They also serve Hong Kong Style Congee.

There are also rice dishes, side dishes and beverages. Interesting. Maybe one fine day I will visit.

Village Park is still going strong with many Grab riders seen waiting to collect orders.

Meanwhile, Ming Kee Seafood Noodle has closed down.

That's how it is in this area. I wonder who is next to occupy this space.

After that, I walked to The Starling where Christmas preparations are in progress. I hope they don't recycle last year's deco. Hah!

  1. Thank you for the walkaround uptown. Sandwiches are very convenient to eat. I just don't like that some places put a lot of mayo in sandwiches.

    1. Me too. Too much mayo can spoil the experience.

  2. When I saw the restaurant's signboard (with a kitty mascot)....Mun-Chi, I thought it was a place of munchies for cats...not people...lol! :D The sandwiches look very wallet-friendly (the petit breakfast is ideal for something light in the morning). I'm not a fan of layer toast (or any thick toast for that matter...too filling). That "dead zone" is a "killer" for the food business coz I see the ratings for Ming Kee Seafood is good.

    1. hah..hah... I did pass by before they officially opened and I guessed it was some sort of cafe, the type that young people like to go to. It's such a shame that Ming Kee Seafood closed down. It was at a different row of shophouses (facing The Starling, opposite end of Village Park) but that lot (towards the end) is not so "ong".

  3. Ahhh, take a walk after eating, not only you burn the glucose in your body but you also get Vitamin D (if under the sun), one stone kills two birds, good strategy. The Mun-chi restaurant with a kitty mascot, wonder is it some kind of cat cafe or restaurant and "Mun" means "eat" in hokkien, my mom used to say come "mun mun" when I was still a toddler LOL! A petit breakfast can also mean good "appetite" or "A petite" breakfast (small and light). Good idea. I love to eat sandwiches. Been to Orchard Road to take photos of the Christmas decor recently, I could feel the festive vibes when I stepped into Orchard Road yet the decor are very minimal, no longer like the good old days with all the hype, activities and crowds. Orchard Road reminds of my younger and wilder days LOL!

    1. Ah! I remember the Christmas atmosphere at Orchard Road when I was in Singapore many, many donkey years ago! It was very festive with all the lights and decorations and looks very nice in the evening. I had no idea that now it is more toned down as you described.

  4. Thank you for updating us the recent F&B scene of Damansara Uptown. Those new eateries definitely look inviting! I hope the set lunch for the Sheung Wan Noodle is available for weekend also because I saw something attracted me. :)
