My Typical Meals

These days my cooking is very very simple. What could be easier that throwing a piece of steak into the air fryer?

Back in the good old days when I was obsessed with my weight (and eating a so-called balanced diet), a salad required so much effort.

All sorts of veggies - salad greens (ready washed ones, which half or 1/3 gets thrown away when they become wilted), tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, a protein and I had to make the dressing (or used ready made ones, of which half or 1/4 gets thrown when they expire before I could finish the bottle).

Or when I did my food preps - marinate and roast the meat, wash, drain and fry or roast the veggies and cook rice. Took up almost the whole of my Sunday.

Those were supposed to be healthy foods (and they are!) and yet I was still craving snacks, cakes, pastries and chocolates and giving in to my weakness and binge eating. And I was unable to maintain my weight.

No more! Sure, you still see pastries and cakes in my posts but those are not something that I eat as frequently as I used to.

This is one of my typical food preps. Minced beef, bacon and onion. I can eat this as is or use the meat to cook an omelette.

Sometimes I add steaky beef and that really amps up the flavors (just like bacon).

I eat the minced beef with fried eggs. Now my veggies are fermented ones which require no cooking or dressings.

A perennial favorite is beef trimmings which look awful but tastes wonderful.

I eat that with fermented veggies (sauerkraut and kimchi).

This is a ribeye that I put in the air fryer.

I took it to work with an omelette.

This was a combo of beef trimmings, cracklings, pulled brisket (which I cooked in bone broth) and kimchi (store bought) and my DIY sauerkraut.

I love eggs. This was breakfast one morning when I was feeling hungry. I fried the eggs in butter. I used to dislike anything cooked in butter because I did not like the smell. But now I can accept the taste.

This was a sirloin (air fried) and eggs. Simply seasoned with salt and pepper.

Ah, I added ferments to my meal.

This was dinner last Sunday. There was minced beef and bacon under the eggs. It was so good!

I enjoy eating this way and best of all, I feel well on this way of eating. For those of you who are new here, you can read about the health and wellness benefits that I experienced since adopting the Carnivore Diet.

  2. Hi PH, yes, I see that you are still enjoying your carnivore meals, I love meat too and vegetables at the side. Nowadays less carbs for me, one spoonful or none at all, if I can help it.

    Contentment in comfort
If all your immediate needs are met (i.e. you have a roof over your head, friends/family you can call, money to get by, etc.), you can feel contentment in this.

    Less is more
Even if you are satisfied by what you have now and derive comfort from it, it doesn't necessarily mean more of it will make you any happier.

  5. Do you fry your eggs in the air fryer too? Didn't know you don't like the taste of food cooked in butter (I still don't, I need butter mixed with oil though I know butter gives a better browning). Sorry, the beef trimmings still look awful...and would taste awful too for people like me who don't like fatty meat...lol.

    1. Oh you, too. I was like that. Totally couldn't accept but now I can eat food cooked in butter. Two eggs not enough, so I had three.
