My Carnivorous Meals
So. What have I been eating? Were there any naughty carbs? hah..hah...hah...
Last Sunday, I had duck eggs.
With a ribeye and fermented veggies.
Oh, I topped the steak with caramelized onions to make it even more vavavoom! The duck egg yolks were so creamy and luxurious.
This was from two weeks ago. Beef trimmings and fermented veggies.
These were two bottles of ferments at the start of the fermentation process.
The fermented veggies are sour and helped to cut through the fatty meat and make the meats even more delicious. The above were also from two weeks ago, ribeye, kimchi, sauerkraut and two fried duck eggs.
When I eat out, I try my best to avoid carbs. Like eating ramen without the noodles.
Roasted meats and Kopi C are a nice combo for me.
This was a tapau from the chap fan shop. Braised fatty pork. So good. Cost me RM8.00.
Now when I go to Halla Holla for coffee, I order eggs. No pastries for now.
I have been a well behaved carnivore. LOL!
Good morning! It is raining cats and dogs here. Thankful for cooling morning since it has been super warm. I love runny and full egg yolks likes these too. If you are taking calcium supplements for healthy and strong bones, it needs vitamin D for the calcium to be absorbed in the right place and egg yolks are a good source of vitamin D. Another high five, I love my satays and food with onions too!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I don't take calcium supplements anymore because from what I read, they are not effective. That is why I now take milk products like yogurt and kefir for natural calcium source. I take vitamin D3 supplements and these days I get sunshine from my walks to and from my brother's house.
DeleteGood that you are absorbing calcium naturally from nutrition and food products. You are right, we can get vitamin D from sunshine and egg yolks too.
DeleteWhy duck eggs instead of chicken eggs? The beef trimmings looked more pleasant than the ribeye without the bloody red colour in the flesh. Till today, I still cannot accept seeing blood in my meaty meals.
ReplyDeleteDuck egg yolks are richer and creamier but they are more expensive than chicken eggs >.< The red that you see in the meat is actually myoglobin and not blood. I learned about that quite recently.
DeleteI know. Bloody red is just to describe the colour I saw in the ribeye. I am talking about the blood I saw in hainanese steamed or roasted chicken. It is in liquid form, so they are not blood? -_-
DeleteOr maybe I should use the term "pinkish" to describe the colour in the ribeye which sounds more appropriate LOL! Thanks for sharing the scientific and chemical term "myoglobin", I thought I might have read about it or saw it somewhere as it looks familiar.
DeleteOk, I understand :) The blood that you see from Hainanese steamed chicken comes from the bones and that is red marrow. It contains cells that can develop into red blood cells. So technically it is not blood.

DeleteYou purposely chose the most fatty part for the zap fan braised pork? Those meat seem like all fat without lean meat. >_<

ReplyDeleteFor once, one of your carnivore meals look attractive to me....the steak (love that red/pink doneness...yum!) with caramelised onions and duck eggs. I've never fried duck eggs at home before (I think I need to get some to try for that extra creaminess...hehe). First time seeing a pastry place having (and willing to sell) just eggs on their menu. ^_~
