What's that? Euphoric recall is remembering something and recalling that you had a good experience with it (which may not be the same now).
Like when I look at pastries, I remember how good they tasted and how much I loved them. Well, some pastries still taste good to me while others don't (not that they taste bad but not as awesome as I remembered).
So I went to Yitcha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam, Damansara Uptown. Just for pastries and my favorite Kopi C Ais Kosong. I selected (my favorite) Bursting Kaya Puff and something I haven't eaten before, Mung Bean Chicken Floss.
I tried the Mung Bean Chicken Floss first. One bite and hmm... dry. I can see whole mung beans in there (they had a bite, not tender) and generally speaking I don't appreciate chicken floss. I was expecting the mung beans to be like angku kueh filling. So I did not like this pastry.
But I was not excited. This is a good example of euphoric recall. I loved this pastry (very much!), ate it many times in the past, but this time it did not taste as good. This is just me, there is nothing wrong with the Bursting Kaya Puff.
Good morning! The only pastries I usually eat are curry puff and chicken pie. I find pastries on the dry side and I am someone who prefers baos to pastries. Have a wonderful work day!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I love curry puff but have not eaten a good one lately.
DeleteEuphoric recall. Ah I learned a new term today. Thanks for sharing. I always have feel good quotient whenever I recall my happy times going tours with my Buddy. But me and my Buddy have both agreed on a strategy, since we had enough fun last time traveling around almost at least once a year, moving forward we would be more careful and frugal in our spending and not let the tour companies earn our money but to reserve the money to eat good food on a daily basis since we are both not young anymore. Unless there is really super good travel deals and offers around.
ReplyDeletehah..hah... yes, we remember the good parts of certain events. I can't go anywhere far now because of my "children" LOL!
DeleteLet's stay positive and move forward and count our blessings until our time on earth is up!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteI reckon this is an old post (that you ate this some time ago) since you mentioned recently that you have stopped all these desserts...lol! :D Sadly, sometimes when we eat something too often, we may not get the same excitement as i did when we had it the first time.
ReplyDeleteYes, this was from a few months ago and even then it was after a long hiatus from eating the pastries.
DeleteI don't remember the taste of Kopi C Ais Kosong at Yitcha kaw kaw. Will try this and make sure I remember the taste.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it did not make much of an impression, that's why you forgot. LOL!
