Ugly Soup

Have you seen a more unpresentable soup than this? It's pork soft bones, celery, onions and garlic.

The soup is so gelatinous, it was like jelly. It didn't move when I turned the container upside down.

I simply korek out the contents into my Korean stone bowl and steamed the whole lot in the steamer.

It's a flavorful soup, just ugly.

One morning I made breakfast and lunch.

I don't usually eat breakfast.

But I had to because I had to take some medications.

I had visited the dentist because I had a toothache.

Apparently there was some inflammation and after the dentist performed remedial works, I was prescribed with antibiotics and painkiller.

I had to take the medications three times a day after meals. I was not too pleased because I dislike taking medicine especially antibiotics but since it was necessary, I had no choice.

Dinner that evening was air fried (lousy) sirloin and beef fat trimmings.

At least I could now chew with gusto and not experience any soreness to my gigi.

Those of you who are familiar would know that Book Depository closed down on 26-04-2023. So sad. These were my last orders from the online bookstore.

Brain Energy by Dr Christopher Palmer, a subject I have an interest in because I suffer(ed) from depression and anxiety. My condition improved tremendously after I changed my diet.

But when I went back to stuffing my face with carbs again recently (the past 4 months from March to June), the anxiety and depression came back with a vengeance.

I am now back on carnivore (it has been 26 days now) and it will take time before I feel better again. Back in 2022, I achieved mental clarity and calmness after 46 days. I know it will happen again.

The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz I bought much earlier. This is about how the low fat diet came about and how we have been mislead for so long to believe that saturated fats and cholesterol is bad.

Besides the sciency stuff, I also like a good dose of the gossipy stuff for entertainment hah..hah...

Well, what can I say? My brain does much much better on ugly food.

  1. Your ugly soup looks like heavenly nectar to me with all its rich and nutritiously fermented ingredients. No wonder you look alert, pretty and wise. I would say most ugly soups are the best like Goulash or Kiam Chai Boey. Yums.

Looking at all your roasted and air fried meats, I had no choice but to head to Wing Heong to buy few types of bak kwa and bacon's. I had the shiok sendiri mode that it's carb free. Heeheehee.

Oh no. Dentists?? I used to have fear and sleepless nights before my appointment all my life. One hypnotherapy session I had and the fear disappeared forever. Now I look forward to see dentists and the younger ones look like K-pop stars. I think around your work place has over 10 dental clinics to choose.

    1. My favorite soup is still kimchi jigae! Must make that again. Hah..hah...please enjoy your bak kwa and bacon. I stopped eating bak kwa because now I find it too sweet for me.

Wah, so hypnotherapy works. I am not afraid of dentists because my uncle is a dentist and when I was little, he took care of my teeth. So I have a positive attitude towards dentists. Yes, my area got many dental clinics.

  3. I don't care the food presentation when eating at home, as long as it's edible. But if I need to photography, I'll make it more appealing, haha!
