Don't Get Fresh

Yesterday I went for a movie - Oppenheimer. Before the movie, I went to get lunch and eat until I was so full that I won't think about popcorn hah...hah....

Ah....I got a comment from Eat What, Eat Where to secretly take a photo of (Donald) the leng chai wahahaha!!! Of course she meant that in jest but I took it seriously.

There you go, leng chai was scooping carbs and I quickly took a shot of him.

Now back to my food.

Three meats - siew yoke, char siew and soy sauce chicken. I will be as honest as honest can be. It was not as good as what I tasted many many time before.

The texture of the soy sauce chicken told me that it was not fresh although it did not taste bad. Same for the char siew. It was dryish and the taste was flat. As for the siew yoke, some pieces, the skin was not crispy and it was very salty. So I must say that it was below par that day and disappointing.

But the Kopi C was good, not like what it was the other day. On my way out, I managed another shot at the leng chai.

This is the clearest shot. So, leng mou? Leng chai if you happen so see this post, I hope you don't take offence. Auntie is not getting fresh with you, ok?

And if you are reading this, you must keep the quality of the food consistent. Freshness is paramount and what I ate that day was anything but. I say, this auntie, took the opportunity to complain pulak.

An hour after lunch, I went to GSC at The Starling. The week before I watched Mission Impossible and my brother did warn me that it's not that great. I mean, sure, there was a lot of action but I did not find it exciting. It all felt so tired and same old same old. Not much substance there. And no, I won't bother with the part 2.

I much prefer Oppenheimer, which is based on a true story and is the sort of movie that I enjoy. I was also amused delighted to see characters like Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr in the movie. Yup, reminded me of the torture of sitting through quantum physics class at university. I don't have the brains for physics but no choice because it was in the curriculum.

Today is Sunday and tomorrow I have a lot of things to rush. But I am not feeling any anxiety or worry. I am feeling calm and relaxed. I will get things done tomorrow. Yes, all the meat is doing me a lot of good. Woohoo!!!

  2. I think when you order the roast meat, you need to remind them to give you fresh fresh ones because they do have fresh ones with yesterday's roast meat. I think they must have given you the previous day roast meat.

    1. Hmmm.... I wonder if they will take offence, it's like I am implying they sell leftovers. What was served that day memang felt like they were a day old.

    2. Don't think they will be offended. They will just serve the day old roast meat to customers who cannot tell the difference la. Customers like me, hehehehe. 😁

  4. Ah, now that you mentioned it, I am very curious how a science student in university ended up being an accountant. After graduation you studied to be an accountant again? Means you studied two specialties?

  7. The roast meat they served you could most likely be from the previous day. Just request them to give you fresh fresh ones when you order next time.

  8. Now that you mentioned it, it must be so interesting a story on how a science university graduate turned into a lady boss accountant.

  9. I think the one chopping meat is his twin bro? Hence the name of the restaurant, I guess....

    1. I did notice they look quite similar (maybe non-fraternal twins) and you could be right about the name of the restaurant.

  10. So, Donald is not the only leng chai here....I see the place is run mostly by a young team of guys. That's why I've always felt that the consistency of roasted meat is not always the same depending on the timing. If you're there when a fresh slab comes out, then you're in for a treat.
