But I have a solution and I bet I am not the first person to do this. So. I had a(nother) case of the satay munchies last Sunday. The delivery from Gerobak Sate was scheduled at 6:00pm (that was the earliest time).
As usual on Sunday evenings, I like to chill out in front of the TV watching whatever it is I am watching on Netflix. So to solve the problem of eating satay while watching TV, this was what I did when my dinner arrived.
First step. Empty satay sauce into a shallow bowl.
Next, remove satay meat from the skewers and place on top pf the sauce. By the way, I ordered 10 sticks beef and 5 sticks chicken.
Then make your way to the sofa.
This is what is so nice when you are a grown up. You can do things like this, something your mother would not have approved. Yes, no eating on the sofa. And what? Have you done your homework? All that remains a distant memory wahahahaha!!!
Monday morning it rained cats and dogs. So my two fatties had to chill out inside. Kittie Kat of course remain banned from the house but don't worry about her.
Belle Belle in vert smart. When I opened the front door and when she saw that it was still raining, she turned around and made her way to the stairs. And sat there like a boss.
As you can see from their display, they sell roasted pork, char siew and poached chicken. Their meal sets come with either rice, noodles or porridge.
I did go and ask if they sell just the meat without carbs and no, they don't. They should consider. There are crazy people who want to order half a chicken or a combo of chicken/siew yoke/char siew, no rice. Who is that? wahahahaha!!!!
Monday lunch was leftovers from Sunday's air grill/air fryer test drive.
In spite of being eaten cold (or rather at room temperature) the beef trimmings and chicken tasted good.
Oh, I love eating in front of the TV while watching Netflix! Not a good habit or example to follow, I couldn't do that if my cucu-s were around... no mother to scold me but my kids will ! LOL... But when they are not around.... phew... I will enjoy my dinner with one plate in my hand and my legs up, exactly the same position as yours.... hahaha...
ReplyDeletehahahahaha!!! Eat in front of the TV the food also taste damn nice!
DeleteI'll call your "satay" Salad with excessive dressing, haha!
ReplyDeletehah..hah.. satay salad, I like that!
DeleteThat looks like our homecooked satay using the canned satay sauce, no skewers.
ReplyDeleteWow! So nice that you can cook satay at home.
Delete๐๐๐๐ You are the first person whom I know that ate satay like a poke bowl. I believe I would do the same and add 3 shallots instead! Plus the freedom of no mummy naggings too!
ReplyDeleteTriple Happiness should be renamed Triple Sadness!! The other stall allows char siew and Siew yoke platter on the same floor. They are desperate to earn from carbo meals. Too bad they lost one customer.
Satay poke bowl hah..hah..hah...
DeleteThat's right! I used to eat at the other one but the standards gone down, so I don't anymore. Next time when you are at Starling you go to Triple Happiness and tell them to add only meat items on the menu for me! LOL!
Nope, you're not the first person who removes satay from their sticks before eating...lol. I do that too...but eat it slightly different from you. Let me share with you my way. I first remove the satay from their sticks and put them (together with the cucumbers and onions) on one side of a fairly big plate. Then I fit a bowl (small enough) on the other side of the plate and pour the sauce into the bowl. Then I poke a piece of satay, cucumber or onion (with a fork) and dip it into the sauce. That way I don't have to eat up too much satay sauce in case it's too sweet (as some can be).
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of any roasted meat stall that don't offer just the meats. It's a rather stupid business move (unless they don't have such prices in their system yet) to me. There are lots of people who want to eat the meats without the rice (like you) and also those who would call add-ons meat (for sharing) when they're eating something else. Makes no sense!
hah..hah..hah... I know! After I published this and then read your comment on my other satay post I was laughing! Your way a bit more tedious since you out the sauce separately but I understand why. I happen to like this particular sauce, so I just banjir the satay.
DeleteOh ya, maybe if I pluck up enough courage, I can go up to them and make a suggestion. LOL!
Ah, thank you for all the photos especially the Girl, Belle Belle and Kittie Kat. Kittie Kat is so sweet to allow you to put a collar on her. I put a collar on Ah Boi before and he kept trying to get it off so I removed it.
ReplyDeleteSomeone evil removed Kittie Kat's collar! I was so angry >.<
DeleteGood to see you enjoying your food the way you like it without anyone nagging you. ๐
ReplyDeletehah..hah..hah.. Yes!
