Saturday Eats

I know it is getting pretty boring (for you, not me) with the food that I eat. Every time also show the same old thing.

Well today, my post is very fresh. I show what I ate today as well as what my parents ate for lunch. Not only that, my partner's lunch pun ada.

But before that, my lunch yesterday.

Steak and eggs. Very pure carnivore.

Dinner was satay from Gerobak Sate via Grabfood. Will write about it in another post. This meal is "dirty" carnivore because of the sugar, spices, peanuts and whatnot but who cares.

I was at my brother's house to visit my parents. For lunch dad wanted char koay teow. I know this is not the best thing for dad to eat but at this stage in his life, I want him to enjoy whatever food he wants.

The important thing is that he eats to nourish and energize himself. I purposely added a fried egg to increase his protein intake. This order is one portion and it is enough for two (small) eaters.

After dishing up dad's portion, this was mum's portion. After dad finished his meal (mum ate later) I made my way to Damansara Uptown. It wasn't too hot today and as I am writing this post, I hear thunder in the distance. Maybe it will rain, maybe not.

On my way to lunch, I saw this banner. A new restaurant will be opening soon. I googled and this must be the cawangan of the Penang Restoran Kimberly Kuan Kee.

This was my lunch at Twins Signature Roast Duck. As per usual I made my order via the QR system. Then after some 10 minutes, a server came to me with a menu and order chit. So I told her I already ordered. She had a concerned look on her face and left.

Then shortly after, another server (who was conversant in English) came and informed me that the QR order system was not available. Adoi. Why didn't they tell me earlier?

I ordered the 3 combination platter of roasted duck, soy sauce chicken and char siew.  Since this was a manual order system, my kopi O ice kosong came correctly with no sugar as per written request.

Notice the color of the coffee, dark brown instead of black. In an earlier order, when the coffee was black, it didn't taste as good. But when it is dark brown like this, it was good. Any idea why kopi O experts?

The soy sauce chicken was very good. The chicken was fresh and succulent. I could taste the subtle hints of the herbs that went into the cooking of the chicken. Next time can order half chicken hah..hah..hah... The duck and char siew were of course excellent.

My partner pulak had a food adventure at the Chung Ling High School Old Boys Association canteen.

Alkaline kueh served with gula Melaka.

Hokkien char and in the background, Penang white curry mee.

And popiah.

After lunch I went to my happy place.

Where I saw this sleepy head.

Inside the enclosure there was another kitty. I wonder where is Hunter?

Allo! Allo!

Look here! Look here!

Aiya...look up lah...Why so shy?

Yes..yes...

Arrrghhhh!!!! So CUTE! So CUTE!!!!!

I believe this cutie pie is a British Short Hair Golden. At RM3,888.00 mommy bankrupt. Haiz... Maybe in my next life I can own a cute atas cat.

Then I went to look at the doggies.

On my way out I encountered the choo choo train.

So that's my Saturday thus far. No dinner tonight as I am super stuffed from lunch. Oh, I also went to tapau a White Kopi Kaw Bing (no sugar) from the Kaw Kaw Kopi truck.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Your food sharing in the blog posts never bore me. It is educational because we eat different types of food, so I got new ideas often. Then once in a while you posted your Miss Universe photos as surprises! Sui la to the max. Most female bloggers hide themselves and one flies on broom stick. Wakakakaka

I think next time you can bring one sachet of Kopi-O in your handbag for emergency. If that arises, you just order hot water and celup the Kopi-O and bancuh. Presto!

These pet shops are real robbers. The animals were either caught or bred with no costs yet they could tag high prices. I saw online the most expensive black dog in the world with shiny crystal blue eyes. Pengsan.

    1. Thank you, thank you! Hello. Mana ada Ms Universe? It is the one who hide their face who are the real Ms Universe material LOL!

hah..hah... you are funny! The restaurant will ban me for DIY kopi O.

  2. I like to read your posts, same food also ok. I agree with you on letting your father eat the food that he requested for so that he will enjoy eating it. Usually Kopi O means no milk so should be black not brown. Brown coffee is usually due to the milk.

    1. Thank you! I wonder if the kitchen accidentally put milk in my order. The time when my coffee color was black, I saw another customer's coffee was brown.

  3. Wah, today's post got bermacam-macam...I like...kekeke! ;) 1) I think this duck you're eating is affiliated to London Duck (which opened in Penang but closed during MCO) coz I once saw the name on the paper bag when you ordered via delivery. I read that this duck is different from the usual roast ducks, maybe that's why you find it so good. 2) I'm also a supporter of letting the old folks eat what they want coz, let's be realistic, they don't have a whole lot of time left, so let them enjoy the things they enjoy (as long as it's not too extreme). 3) If you don't taste milk, then it's definitely kopi-o and the only explanation I know why it's brown and not black is because they frothed/blitzed (or whatever you call it) in a machine. A guy at the place where I eat my la la noodles told me that (coz I also got a kopi-o that looked dark brown) and he said it's tastier (you too find it better) if it's frothed (so the frothing/blitzing probably changed the colour of the coffee). 4) Ah, your partner, being a Penang lang, must eat Penang food...lol. I quite like those alkaline kuih (not common here in KL) but only in small portions. 5) Your happy place is also my happy place. The snow coloured one reminds me of my late Cookie...but the golden one is also such a cutie (aiyah, I want to bring them home...but cannot afford!). I think Hunter was fired from his job coz he didn't promote his "home" (aka enclosure) well enough to prospective buyers, so they replaced him with two cutie pies! Wuahahahaha!

    1. Like rojak LOL! Ah, I am not familiar with London Duck. No wonder the duck is exceptional. I really love it. Yes, I agree that old folks ought to be able to enjoy whatever food they like. After all my dad does not indulge everyday. There are days when he prefers lighter lunch. Hmmm..perhaps you are right. The Kaw Kaw Kopi truck people blitz the coffee before pouring the drink into the plastic cups. But then my kopi O from there is not brown. I suspect the restaurant kitchen ter-accidentally added milk. Maybe I could experiment at home and try blitzing my Kopi O (I bough the Ah Huat brand I find it quite all right). My partner complained that the Hokkien Char was not nice hah..hah... He saw the kitchen being manned by foreign workers. But he liked the alkaline kueh. LOL about Hunter. I bet you miss your late Cookie a lot.

    2. I've tried Ah Huat kopi-o but switched to Oldtown Nan Yang White Coffee O which I thought tasted better. You can give it a try if you like.

  4. The kway teow looks good! I wouldn't want to eat the same things so many days in a row, never mind how much I love them. Roast duck every day is pushing it a bit too far. LOL!!!
