Random Food Pics : Solo Meals

These days, I have freedom to enjoy food that I like. I am no longer a slave to a low carb diet. I don't diet anymore and I practice intermittent fasting with reasonable eating.

That makes me very happy especially when eating out. I used to avoid anything with rice, noodles, pasta or even potatoes. And I used to order noodle soup with request for no noodles. No more!

In the past, I would have avoided this place even though I love Tex-Mex food.

One afternoon I walked in to have nachos. That was because I had a late dinner appointment (at Two Hands Restaurant which I mentioned here) and I wanted to make sure I don't get too hungry. The coffee was to keep me awake past my usual bedtime hee...hee....

Unfortunately, the nachos arrived at my table cold. I expected warm nachos because it is warmed in the oven to melt the cheese.

On an earlier visit, I had pulled lamb tacos. Very nice. I loved the addition of pineapples in the filling.

I had a craving for burgers. Don't know why. I went to Cafe 300 (formerly Patissez) to look for burgers but they serve burgers only for dinner.

So I went to The Embassy instead. I have not visited for a while because on subsequent visits, I found that the food did not really excite me. But the place has a very nice ambiance.

I ordered the Madame Secretary which was not available on an earlier visit.

I'm afraid it did not make me happy.

Since I did not enjoy the above chicken burger, I was determined to satisfy my craving.

Sadly, this one also did not meet with my expectations.

I must get my brother to take me to KGB@TTDI.

I wanted to revisit and eat the soup, this time with noodles.

I had the the pork belly in tomato pork bone soup. Sad to say, this time the soup was diluted, not powerful like the one I had the first time.

So I had to rely on the condiments to make up for the lack of flavors.

This is one of my favorite places to eat.

I had the noodle set with halibut fillet in clear soup.

So good!

My favorite here is the curry soup.

I enjoy it every single time.

I know I have been eating out too often. It's probably time to food prep again, eh?

  1. I eat out for every meal so I won't say that you are eating out too often. From your list, I know which shops to avoid. I like the food at Mr. Fish too so it is my fallback place to eat at when I am at Starling mall.

  2. Oh? Nene Chicken no good? They just opened an outlet here last weekend, yet to go and check it out but since it's so good, I guess I will just take my time. I would enjoy those nachos and tacos...once in a while - my girl loves that kind of stuff.

  6. Hi Phong Hong, yes intermittent fasting and eating a reasonable portion is a good idea. Only problem with eating out, is the over seasoned food and soup. My hubby eats out quite often these days due to his work schedule. Nowadays, he complains my food is rather tasteless.

  7. Overloaded with food. Once a while I don't mind eating out. But it could be tiring to think of where and what to eat some time. Lol. Same goes with eating in. Headache to think of menu.

  8. Madame Secretary wouldn't make me happy too....the chicken looks dry, the egg is overcooked and that yellow blob...is that fried onion rings? The only thing that interests me is the look of the curry at Mr Fish :) Wish there's a branch nearer to me.

    1. You got that right, it was dry! So was the batter for the onion rings. The curry at Mr Fish is good but they can be inconsistent and I have experienced not so good serving sometimes.

  11. Since my sister moved out after she got married, my mom seldom cooks nowadays and I only know how to make sandwiches, spaghetti and instant noodles LOL, so I eat out a lot too. Seems like most people vote for the curry soup at Mr Fish.
