Oink Roll On A Datenite

Before we get into datenite this was my lunch.

Balinese Style Sticky Glazed Pork Ribs with Caesar Salad and Grilled Vegetables at The Charcoal Grill. Unfortunately the ribs were dry and not awesome like back in 2024.

But the coffee did not disappoint.

A fiery red Christmas tree outside 3B Coffee Store which I have not yet visited.

My post-lunch walk took me to BookXcess, The Starling.

I used to make a beeline for cookbooks.

Not anymore.

How many of you can play the piano (or were forced into piano classes by your parents)? I was lucky my parents did not care for musical endeavors. Pling Pling Pliang Pliang PONNNGGG!!! That I predict is the extent of my musical talents.

Soon it was datenite! We went to Red Kettle, The Starling.

A Raspberry Lychee Cooler to share. Very refreshing and the drink was not sweet, just the way we like it.

My partner had the Classic Pork Chop from the regular menu.

While I ordered from the Christmas Menu - Oink Roll!

The Oink Roll is described as - Roasted bacon-wrapped boneless pork shoulder with herb spread, roasted vegetables, bulgur, cranberry apple sauce, aji verde & homestyle gravy. Sounds good to me.

I must say that the cranberry apple sauce, aji verde & homestyle gravy were very tasty. It is interesting that I have made aji verde before and it is a delicious sauce.

I also loved the roasted vegetables and bulgur.

The roasted bacon-wrapped boneless pork shoulder with herb spread was smokey and tender with a healthy layer of fat. Yes, you heard me right - healthy layer of fat - which I appreciated.

But .... one slice of Oink Roll was not enough for me. I can eat two wahahahaha!! So that was our datenite which I enjoyed very much.

  1. Dear friend, firstly, I love the quote! Very true! Your photos are delightful! The cat books, the food, wow! The presentations of the dishes is lovely! I have never heard of an oink roll before and actually laughed when I saw the name! LOL! It does look good, I must say. And ribs....I love ribs!
I love the Christmas tree and the little piano! They are both beautiful!

  2. The Oink Roll looks absolutely delicious! 😋🤤
Is there any butter taste in the oink roll dish?
I suspect would have a little butter taste, right?

  3. When I saw that oink roll with a good amount of fat, I knew you'd be very pleased. It looks very good too with a great charring. Wow, 3 sauces for 1 meat...I'd love the brightness of the aji verde with the meat.

  4. Luckily my musical endeavour were my personal choices not forced and they were pleasant, happy and fun memories. I could play the Chinese zither (gu zhen) and Chinese violin (er hu), but not anymore like you don't buy cookbooks anymore.

  5. I like everything you and your partner had at the red kettle, that refreshing drink resembled what I had at a restaurant which was good too. By the way I had oink oink for mid day lunch today too. Love your quote.

  7. I agree with our friend Kris, I have no time for too close observations but I love some fats in my proteins too.
