Saturday Lunch

Last Friday, I planned for some epic meals for the long weekend.

That's the problem with me. I plan for this and that and then I am unable to fulfill (most of) my plans. I was thinking of making myself a Big Breakfast, (carnivore) pizza, soup - all that amidst plans for gardening and year end spring cleaning.

So on Saturday I ended up with my usual simple unremarkable meals (which are delicious by the way), nothing like what I had in mind.

I placed fatty beef trimmings on top of a wire rack placed over a pan of Brussels sprouts and garlic. The beef came out very nicely browned and crispy (thanks to the fats).

The Brussels sprouts and garlic cloves were cooked with the beef drippings.

My meal turned out very tasty and satisfying.

Earlier in the day, as I was tinkering in my garden, Poodie decided to be cute.

She loves to flop down on the floor for attention.

Of course I had to drop whatever I was doing to snap a photo (and to give her a belly rub and a head scratch).

Auntie Girl walked up to kacau her.

hah...hah...hah...

Then Poodie got up and walked away. I guess she wasn't amused.

Dinner was six hard boiled eggs. I ate the eggs with sauerkraut and a drizzle of tamari.

I was going to start on this book when I saw this on Youtube.

That is so sad. May she rest in peace.

  4. Aiyo, why Poodie gave Auntie Girl a slap in the face hah hah 🐈😺 I like the quote, so positive! Like you, I plan to eat more "atas" and "extravagant" meals during weekends and public holidays, sometimes I accomplish my plans, at times was unable to fulfill due to unforseen circumstances. Sad to hear the pretty Korean author's demise. She is free from all the binds and suffering now, rest in peace and follow the light. Amituofo! πŸ™ May she get to the Western Pureland or go to Heaven whatever religion she believes in.

  7. Dear PH, I bought an air fryer this summer and I first used it on Saturday to make a chicken leg πŸ— for my supper. It was crispy, moist and delicious πŸ˜‹ I will be looking for easy and nutritious foods that I can make with my air fryer, as the temperatures are cool and comfortable. I thought you would be interested in knowing this because you have a lot of experience with the air fryer.

    1. That's wonderful, Linda! You will love your air fryer because it is easy to use. One word of advice, you need to consistently clean the heating element to prevent build up of grease. I made the mistake of not being diligent with my first air fryer and cleaning up the gunk was quite a task!
