I was very attracted to the menu which included Big Breakfast, sandwiches, set meals, pastries and of course, coffee.
Oh wow. The cafe is very nicely decorated with potted plants and artificial flowers at every corner.
Ordering and payment is done at the counter.
Then I waited for my Big Breakie Breakfast.
It was a sensory overload of (faux) pretty flowers and plants which I liked. Some of the potted plants are live plants.
Half an hour had passed when I went to the counter to check on my order. I was assured that it was coming.
Some twenty minutes later, the couple who came shortly after I did, were served first. Hmmm. But I did not make a fuss. Since I was not in a hurry and there is no point getting hot under the collar.
After almost an hour of waiting, I was finally served. Maybe that was a blessing because by then I was super hungry hah...hah... When you are hungry, anything tastes good.
What was on my plate were :
- Eggs - looked like scrambled but more of an omelette from the texture. It was all right.
- Hashbrown - I liked it. I mean who doesn't like hashbrown?
- Processed meats - smoked chicken ham, sausage and beef bacon. I liked the beef bacon.
- Mushrooms - these I loved.
- Baked beans - I love baked beans, so.
- Salad drizzled with sesame dressing - nice
- And at the center was a toasted bagel - nice
It was a nice enough big breakfast. Not remarkable and not disappointing either.
I was given this cookie on the house to make up for the long wait. I appreciated the gesture. Who wouldn't be appeased by a cookie, right?
This is a big cookie (which I presume is cranberry cookie) isn't baked with butter since there was no buttery taste or aroma. When I chewed the cookie it became clay-like in my mouth. Not a pleasant mouthfeel and lumpy to swallow.
In spite of the long wait and average big breakfast, I am glad I visited.
Hi dear friend, I love all your photos! Your first plate looks like a traditional Quebec breakfast! Bacon, sausage or ham, with eggs, toast, potatoes and baked beans! I love the one with bacon. Not all restaurants serve the baked beans with a breakfast, but some do. I have to say that I like bacon, sausage and ham, but never have more than one in a dish. So I choose one of the three, depending on what I am in the mood for. I love a cozy corner seat as well!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the fact that you had to wait as long as you did for your meal, and that a couple that ordered after you got their meal first! Although there may be an explanation for this, it just doesn't sound nice.
I am glad that you were not in a hurry, took it in your stride and stayed relaxed! Good for you!
I am not a big fan of cookies, but I do like peanut butter, oatmeal or chocolate chip. This cranberry one you had doesn't look appealing to me at all!
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend, and I hope you have a wonder filled day!
I would love a traditional Quebec breakfast! Just one breakfast like that and it lasted me the whole day hah..hah... I have since returned to the cafe for another enjoyable meal. Will past that one of these days!
DeleteThank you for the review. I like to eat baked beans too. It has been quite a long time since I last ate it. One hour wait for food? Shouldn't be an issue for me as I can just play crossword puzzles online or sudoku online while waiting for the food.
ReplyDeleteI was not on a tight schedule that day, so I just relaxed and waited. That breakfast lasted me the whole day and that was my OMAD.
DeleteI wouldn't have your calm and patience to wait one hour for my dish to be served...more so if it turned out less remarkable...lol! Looking at the price of the BB, I'd want a bit more housemade items, that's why I appreciate those cafes who make homemade sausages and hash browns.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know! LOL! This BB is not one I would revisit.
DeleteGood Sunday morning when you read this comment. I had Long John Silver Breakfast Platter this morning, but without baked beans haha, just scrambled eggs, hashbrown, chicken patty and toasts hee hee at S$7.20. You are right, who doesn't like hash brown? Raise hand! And I like baked beans too. As for sausage, ham or bacon, this is the order I like, as I find bacon a little on the saltish and unchewable side, my first choice is sausage. I wouldn't like it too if someone or in your case a couple who ordered later got their food first. I will voice up (or observe why as maybe their order was easier to prepare), but depends on the situation, if the couple, the guy is a giant man with strong fists, I will think twice, muahahaha! I seldom eat cookies nowadays. But if they come in a set meal with just ONE cookie, I don't mind. Am relaxing after completed my houseworks for today (haiz, houseworks are like endless right, but what to do?). Now waiting for and watching the sunset (The orange golden egg yolk) in Master Bedroom with Million Dollar scenery. Ciao!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! LOL! You are funny! Your breakfast platter sounds good to me. I was not well yesterday but much recovered today. I will take it easy today and chill so that I recover 100%. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
DeleteOh yes! Forgot to mention, the Breakfast Platter comes with beverages like hot black coffee, hot tea and cold ones too. I chose hot tea this morning.
ReplyDeleteAh, I would have chose black coffee as you would have guessed!
DeleteAnd woohoo, got choice of sofa seats, wooden chairs and tables with window view too. A very pretty cafe I have to say.
ReplyDeleteYes, this cafe is nice for a relaxing gathering with friends.
