So when I saw the promotion for Nando's Peri Honey Yuzu, I was curious. I have not tasted yuzu properly and can't remember what the taste is like.
Unfortunately the Peri Honey Yuzu Chicken Meal is 1/4 chicken and there is no option for 1/2 chicken. Bah!
The set comes with a choice of 3 light sides and a bottomless drink (and a Bola which I did not notice).
The other option is the Peri Honey Yuzu Chicken Feast (for 2). So I ordered the chicken meal because I wanted to taste the honey yuzu sauce.
This landed on my table and I was like, eh, I did not order this. Apparently it (the Bola) comes with the set meal.
For the drinks, we help ourselves at the drink station. I was very happy when I saw that they provide water, so I opted for water instead.
I chose chicken thigh and to avoid starchy carbs, I chose 2 sides of coleslaw and a Caesar Salad. The honey yuzu sauce was served on the side.
I wished they had done that when they promoted their mango sauce some time ago (sorry can't remember the name).
The Honey Yuzu sauce was of course sweet but it was pleasant although I found that I don't really like yuzu flavor. It's like marmalade to me.
I was surprised that I enjoyed their Caesar Salad because I did not like it when I first had it some time ago.
Now, this dessert was so darn good, I am ashamed to admit hah...hah...hah... It was warm and spongy with a delicious custard filling. Oh dear, an unintentional carb day.
This dessert is Bola de Berlim, a Portuguese doughnut filled with custard. It's really good. If you are on diet, please do not order it LOL!
Hi dear friend, thank you for this quote, it really speaks to me! I love your blog banner/header photo collage! Your chicken leg meal looks delicious! I have always preferred the chicken leg over the breast...because the chicken leg is usually moister and smaller and I can usually finish it, while I find the chicken breast drier and too much, I can't finish eating it.
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos!
Linda, thank you fo ryour generous compliments! Oh ya, I agree with you. Chicken breast is meaty but due to the texture I don't like it. I love the legs and wings.
DeleteThank you for the review. I remember you saying you don't like pomelo either so does that mean you don't like citrus ππ taste?
ReplyDeleteSome citrus taste I like - orange and lime and lemons. But yuzu is not to my liking.
DeleteI wonder will you like fresh yuzu fruit as the taste won't be the same as honey yuzu.
DeleteWhat about cny mandarin oranges, do you like them?
I wonder too and if I get to taste one, then I will know. Oh yes, I like Mandarin oranges and tend to overeat during CNY. LOL!
DeleteUsually I try not to read your meals/food posts before I completed my meals for the day cos your beautifully and tastily presented photos made me hungry Lol! Ok, now that I had my lunch at my neighbourhood FC of Japanese Teriyaki chicken don with salads (S$5.30), I am reading about your Nando's visit. Same as Linda, I enjoy chicken drumstick and thigh and not chicken breast as it is usually tough and dry. Yuzu sauce in my imagination should be a little sweet and sour as I had cold yuzu beverage before. Had a great day ahead!
ReplyDeleteLOL! The yuzu sauce was sweet, not sour at all. It reminded me of marmalade. Although I like oranges, but somehow I don't like marmalade.
DeleteIf for me, for the 3 sides I will order Mediterranean rice, one coleslaw and one salad, I must have rice. The bola looks tasty and interesting. Wonder if SG Nando's has his set like yours. Going to Nando's is convenient for me too. Ok, will bookmark this when I feel like indulging after I bookmarked Sushi express π£ (again!) and KFC (again!)
ReplyDeleteYou are like my partner - he also must have rice. LOL! Wah, you bookmarked your places to eat. I would prefer sushi over KFC.
DeleteOh, don't be so quick to conclude you don't like yuzu flavour (since you like sour flavours) coz I think they didn't do justice here (and made it too sweet with honey). If you had a proper yuzu (in desserts or at Japanese restaurants) I think you'd agree that it's the bomb (and like it as much as I do). I see anything yuzu flavoured...I will order coz yuzu tastes above and beyond lemon that's more pungent and tangy but less harsh (like a meyer lemon would or key lime vs lime). ^_~
ReplyDeleteAh, I see! OK, I will look out for yuzu flavors when I eat at Japanese restaurants. Perhaps you are right since we have similar tastebuds.
