Brunch After Home Searching

Today my brother and I had a small adventure. Mum had been wanting to find a more affordable care facility for dad.

So a cousin of mine introduced a place. Mum (in her attempt to sell the idea) told dad that this facility (where the single room costs 50% less than the present place) is a new building and newly renovated. Hmmm....

I set up an appointment to view the facility (somewhere in PJ). When my brother and I got there, we saw that the place was an old run down double story bungalow.

Once inside we spoke to one of the caretakers who gave us an overview of the home. This facility (like the present one where dad is placed) is run by a medical practitioner but with no attending nurse.

The environment was rather grim. What we saw from the website is a far cry from reality

The residents here are from a very different background from us. With that, my brother and I decided that dad deserves to live his remaining natural life in a better environment (albeit more expensive) where he is already well adapted to.

So it was off to brunch after our mission.

We went to Red Kettle @ The Starling. Kopi dua!

My brother had the Carbonara.

He said it was good. I am scared of the cheese, so I cannot eat this.

It was too early for a steak.

So I had my favorite Grilled Chicken Salad

After the meal, I went to Jaya Grocer to do some grocery shopping. Then it was back to the office to work, work, work. LOL!

***Kittie Updates***

Ah Girl is being a nice big sister to Kittie Kat.

Look at that.

Ah Boi was doing her own thing in the background.

Hee..hee.. they are so cute like that.

I am thinking of changing Ah Boi's name to Ah Moi. Can, ah?

  1. If I were you, I would choose a slightly more expensive place which is more comfortable too. Since your dad is already used to his current nursing home, best to stay put. I would go for the grilled chicken salad, slurps! Ah Moi, lol!! She will respond or not, if you change to Ah Moi, lol?

    1. I agree with you and we have decided to let dad stay put where he is. I tried calling Ah Boi, Ah Moi but she like don't want to entertain. LOL!

  2. Since your dad has accepted living in a nursing home, it's probably a more "dangerous" decision to move him in case he does not like the new place and then it'll be difficult to move back (I know some nursing homes are "fully occupied" and any "vacancy" gets filled immediately).

It's great to see Girl & Kittie Kat like that, like loving siblings grooming one anther. Haiz, why couldn't Belle2 just get along like those two. T_T As for changing to Ah Moi or Amoi, perhaps after a trip to the vet would be best? Just in case you got it wrong...lol! :D

    1. Yup, that's what I feared too but as it is mum is convinced that dad should stay put.

Belle Belle is like some people who just can't adapt and won't get along with others. It's her loss, as she was much loved. Oh ya, I will let the vet verify Ah Boi's gender LOL!

  3. Ah Boi would have got used to her name by now. So, changing the name would confuse her....don't know if she will respond or not if you suddenly call her ah moi....lol! She still looks like a male cat until today...I think 'Ah Boi' suits her appearance, hahaha! Kittie Kat and Girl so close like sisters now.

  4. Since you and your two brothers are still working, all 3 of you are working hard to provide your father with the funds to live where he is now. 50% off is rm3k which is more affordable but since your father is already comfortable where he is living now, it is good that all of you decide to just work harder and let your father remains where he is. I visited a few places in PJ before all decided for a rm5k monthly two to a room for the elderly now. The elderly who is forgetful is now very happy because fallen in love with one young girl staff. But of course it is tepuk sebelah tangan la and we all attribute it to his brain state so the staff there also knows and is fine with it.

  5. Ah moi sounds good 😻but you can try calling her and see she likes the name and respond to you or not by the calling her ah moi. I won't be eating the carbonara due to the runny egg. They could have given you a bigger plate for your chicken. Tasty! 😋

  6. If all 3 of you can afford & share out the nursing home expenses, it would be advisable to stay put at the current home for your dad. Your father is comfortable, less stress for him & all in the family. Ah Girl is very loving towards Kittie Kat. The last picture of Ah Boi looks like a flying fox :)

    1. Ah Boi does not look feminine at all and perhaps I should stick to the original name. LOL!

  7. What are those sprinkles on the Carbonara?

  8. Nursing homes are not cheap nowadays... in Ipoh, the last time I checked was around RM4k for a "can stay-in" condition, of course there are cheaper ones which are grim looking as you said. If I were to stay in a home, my pension is not enough to cover an ATAS room... hahaha...

    1. Those better ones are expensive and I would not want to stay at those "grim" ones. That's why I have to rebuild my savings for my old age. EPF might not be enough and I don't have pension!
