Nasi Campur Nyum Nyum!

I was walking out to pickup a loaf of bread when I noticed a van selling nasi campur. Yay!!

So. Laju jer aku pergi tapau. The van was just pulling up right in front of 99 Speedmart and I approached it like ants to sugar. I wasn't the only one. There were at least another 2 or 3 customers eagerly waiting to pack their lunch.

The kakak had lots of varieties of food in the van. I immediately zoomed in on my favorite. Tempeh. I cannot resist tempeh.

Then I saw something like paru (lungs). "Kak, ni paru ke?", I asked. "Ye", she replied. So. I reached out and scooped and scooped and scooped.

All this with rice for RM8.00.
I also love bayam (spinach) and took a big scoop. Then I noticed a big pan of sambal belacan topped with shredded mango. I took a scoop of that too.

Paru tu liat sket. Kritik pulak.

Back in the office, I immediately ate my lunch. My first bite was the tempeh. Nice. The paru was not bad. But some pieces were too chewy.

And the sambal belacan was woo hoo pedas

Then the next day heh..heh..heh.... I went back for more. This time, environmentally friendly container in tow.

As you can see, I had tempeh again. Then I got myself some daging (beef) and hati/pedal (chicken liver/gizzard). For veggies I chose the acar timun (cucumber salad) and topped that with the hot sambal belacan to torture my mouth for another round of excitement.

I think there was a bit too much jintan putih (cumin) in the beef and it was a tad overpowering. Other than that, I thought it was good. Jumpa lagi, ek? I'll be back!

  1. Usually in Malaysia, you scoop what you want? Here, they will scoop what we want...

  2. I'd say yum, yum to nasi campur too...but not yum, yum to tempeh (dislike it immensely) and paru (too chewy for me)! It's difficult to go on a carbless diet when eating nasi campur coz the sambal and curries make you want to eat more and more rice! >.<

    1. The price is cheaper I think because they operate from a van. Those who sell from shops got to pay high rental.
