Meatball Sandwich

Fridays are my chit chat days with mum.

Back in 2024, after dad was admitted to the nursing home, I visited mum 5 days a week not only to deliver lunch and newspaper but to sit down and talk with her.

I basically wanted to give her some support as 2023/2024 was a very tough year for her. Mum went through a lot, she gave her all looking after dad at the expense of her own well being.

But in 2025, I restricted our chit chat to Fridays only because I had to to get back to my normal work routine.

I woke up hungry and cooked an omelette for breakfast.

I finished off the last bit of kimchi that I had in the fridge.

Later that day, after my chit chat with mum, I headed to The Atria. This escalator is still out of order since 3 weeks ago.

Work in progress?

Now Fridays lunch is at Antipodean.  Because by the time I walk back to The Starling, it is way past 12.00 pm and most restaurants (the ones that I prefer) are packed.

Antipodean is never packed thus far. So it makes sense to come here. Besides the coffee is good and the food is nice.

That day I opted for the Meatball Sandwich and Ice Black Coffee.

The sandwich was just ok for me. I enjoyed the chips more.

I guess I won't be having anymore sandwiches here. I'll try the burger next.

  1. Dear friend, I love the quote. You are a wonderful daughter and I am certain that your mother appreciates you. 😊
    I like your photos.
I do like meatballs but wouldn't like them in a sandwich.
I am used to having them with pasta or vegetables.
    Thanks for sharing πŸ‘ 😊

  2. I was wondering how a meatball would fit into a sandwich....oh, it's actually in the form of minced meat...lol! :D Antipodean (has been around for a long time) is not packed (people always like to visit newer cafes)...is it because they've got a bigger space as well?

    1. Yup, they put the meatballs, sauce and cheese with between the slices of bread. I think this Antipodean is not packed due to its location at The Atria which is not getting much foot traffic. My brother even suggested that they might close down due to poor support (he visited at a quiet time).

  3. Back in 2019, I had the Asparagus Bacon with Scrambled Eggs at MYR 26++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 30.16 nett) at Antipodean Midvalley mall which was tasty but I haven't been back since there are so many new cafes to try.
The Antipodean at Midvalley mall is Still enjoying good business. Hopefully the Atria branch also seeing that Atria has less people than Midvalley mall I think.

    1. I think they have good support at Atria even though they may not be packed at lunch time. It's a good place for me to go on Fridays.
