An Eventful Weekend

Last Saturday my dad was discharged from the hospital. He was transported home via ambulance.

That morning my brother and my mum went to the hospital to sort out the administrative matters. Meanwhile I went to the house to receive my father.

I was there around 10:00am although I was informed earlier that the ambulance would pick my dad up around 1:30pm. It is better to be early just in case.

Before I left home, I ate breakfast in anticipation of a long day.

That was an omelette made with onions and leftover flank steak. It filled up my tummy very nicely.

While waiting at my brother's house I made myself a mug of iced coffee. Luckily for him, I no longer eat snacky stuff or else he would find his stash reduced by half.

Since I had nothing better to do, I borrowed his blood pressure meter and checked my BP.

Wahseh! Not bad, eh? Almost textbook (120/80) reading but my pulse rate is high. Excited about the ambulance kot. Then I received a text message from my brother at 1:25pm that the ambulance had departed the hospital.

I agak-agak it would take say 20-25 minutes for the ambulance to reach the house. So I went outside to wait since I was very restless inside. Then in the distance I heard the siren neeeeenooorrr....neeeeenooorrrr....  That's the que that the ambulance akan sampai!

It was a big ass ambulance.

I waited in anticipation for the paramedics to bring my dad into the house.

It's not an easy job. You need a lot of strength to manouevre the  gurney and to lift it up and down. Not to mention lifting the patient. Before long the two chaps brought dad into the house and safely placed him on the bed.

After they left, mum and brother reached home. I stayed for a while to chat with my parents while my brother left for work. Soon I too had to leave for the office. There is a lot of work to do this month to beat the 31 August 2023 tax submission deadline.

At the office I did what I had to do and decided to go to Seoul Classic for an early dinner. Since they open at 5:00pm, I made my way there.

Obviously nobody eats at 5:00pm and the wait staff were getting the place ready. They sat me at the inner part of the restaurant.

There you go, my 9 banchan.

This is the
Ttukbaegi Bulgogi from the main menu. I had forgotten that the nice sets meals that I had been enjoying are only offered at lunchtime. The dinner set meals are only limited to soups/stews such as this one.

This was very good - beef bulgogi. As usual, I packed away the carbs for my lahling to eat.

I was debating whether to eat the delicious peanuts. But in the end I packed it since this is my lahling's favorite.

Obviously the dinner was not enough for me. I actually wanted to order meat from the ala carte section but the guy told me it would be too much for one person. Well, one day I will insist and tell him that I have a container to pack what I am not able to finish.

Back home, I had another round of omelette and finished up all my leftover flank steak.

Then on Sunday, I got creative and made some sort of fritata/casserole.

Isn't that colorful?

It has minced beef, eggs, onions, sausages, pepperoni, cheese and capsicum.

Quite delicious if I may say so myself.

My brother sent me a  photo of his breakfast. Yum! I especially like the eggs with runny yolks.

My auntie's white tulip bloomed. It has an unusual look with the frilly edged petals.

Let me share the contact of the ambulance which may be useful because you never know when you need one.

  1. Thank you for the details about the ambulance service. I anticipate that one day I will need it. I have never seen such a big ambulance before though I have been inside 3 different ambulances to go to the hospital. This ambulance is really big. I guess your father's bed is on the ground floor else the ambulance people need to carry him upstairs. Your father must be so happy to be back home.

  3. Just nice, your BP. Mine is ok but usually a bit high, the upper part. Have to carry on taking the meds. Your casserole looks good.

    1. I hear that BP tends to be higher when we are older. So I am testing that on myself.

  4. Your fritata casserole looks colourful and delicious. I can only see the pepperoni but not the sausages. Did you chuck everything at once into the oven? I wouldn't mind making this but that amount of meat/portion size will take me a week to finish....lol. P/S: Your brother's breakfast look like something out of a Malay buffet line...got nasi goreng, telur mata, karipap and kuih talam...hehehe! ;)

    1. Thank you! I removed the sausage casing and fried with the minced beef. It gave a very good flavor. Yes, everything went into the oven all at once. Took me three sittings to finish the whole lot hah..hah... My brother must have had his breakfast at a Malay restaurant near his office.

  5. Your BP rate is ok. Maybe higher because of the anxiety. It is normal.

The staff worry you can eat much but they were wrong. You can eat!! Lol.

    1. I was surprised that it was so big. I have only so far seen the small Bulan Sabit ambulance. Beef is my favorite too.

  7. Hope your father is more comfortable now at home than in the hospital, yes, the ambulance looks very "canggih" not like the ones I normally see on the roads. Your BP and heartbeat is ok, mine is also 90 plus last time... try to inhale and exhale slowly, it brings down the heartbeart... I also check daily, usually will be lower in the evening when we relax...

    1. My father is very glad to be home, thanks. I was not expecting such a big ambulance so it came as a surprise. They did a good job transporting my dad. I am the kancheong type, so my heartbeat very fast LOL!

  8. I can see there was good amount of cheese in your casserole but I thought you don't like cheese?
The frilly edged petals looked like lacey dress and I just watched a video about a kind of mushroom with "lacey" cap yesterday, it's so pretty!

    1. My relationship with cheese is love/hate. Cheese on pizza, sandwiches and baked goods is OK (mozzarella/cheddar) but other types of cheese like blue cheese, sharp cheddar etc I cannot tahan >.<
