Bacon Wrapped Chicken Mid Wings

This morning at Aeon, I picked up a packet of chicken mid wings. Mid wings are my favorite part of chicken wings.

I actually hadn't planned to make these bacon wrapped wings. When I got home, I took out a packet of bacon to defrost. They defrost quite quickly.

I put the chicken wings on a metal rack and placed them in the fridge for a few hours. Overnight would be better but this will do. Meanwhile I went ahead and took care of other things.

The bacon defrosted in no time. Then it was time to wrap the wings with bacon.

I used one strip of bacon for one wing. There were 12 mid wings but only 9 bacon strips. Dang! But no matter.

I preheated the air fryer at 200C and set the air fryer for 20 minutes. I air fried the wings for about 17 minutes (flipping the wings after 10 minutes) and took them out when the bacon was well browned. I turned off the air fryer and left the 3 unwrapped wings inside to brown further  on residual heat.

I let the wings cool off and then sampled one. I don't have to tell you how it was. Anything wrapped in bacon will taste good, right? Right!

The bacon is crispy and when you bite into the wing, the flesh is tender and moist. So good!

I didn't need to dip the wings into any sauce because they were already so good on their own. By the way, I don't enjoy tomato or chili sauce anymore. Now they taste like chemicals and I find them way too sweet. Not liking sauces is not exactly a bad thing. So.

  2. First of all, I agree 100% that anything wrapped in bacon will taste good. The mid wing is also my favourite part. These days wings & breast (if they're not dry) is beginning to grow on me. I don't mind them at all sometimes even preferring them to thigh which I find a bit too fatty at times. Now these wings look like something I'd want to cook in the airfryer but my bacon burns after 5 mins (it has happened to me a few times already, even just seconds more and I'm in trouble), so I'm wondering how it didn't burn in yours when you cook it for a lengthy 17 mins. Did you try making this in your old Philips airfryer?...as that would be similar to if I cooked it in mine. P/S: I can join you & TM in dancing around coconut trees....lol! :D

    1. I think my bacon did not burn because it is wrapped and due to the many layers (also quite moist) it was more insulated from the heat. I did not make this in the Philips air fryer, in fact this is the first time I wrapped wings with bacon. LOL on dancing around coconut trees!

  3. Your chicken wings wrapped in bacon is superior to sausage wrapped in bacon because sausage is processed food. Looks tasty. My spouse would eat them all without hesitation because he loves to eat bacon.

  4. I also love bacon especially crispy ones, I can just eat them without bread or eggs..... Looking at your blanket wrapping wings, I can imagine how tasty they are! Salivating now in the morning!
