Adoi! Adoi! Adoi! : It's Not Easy Becoming Lara Croft

Now, what has Lara Croft got to do with this auntie? Or the two roasted chicken legs?

Well, let me explain. Every time I go watch a movie that has a sleek and well toned female protagonist, I get all gung ho and motivated.

Motivated to do what you ask. Motivated to exercise and lift weights, that's what. As if that would make me into this super sleek and well toned auntie. Aiya...how can.....dreaming, ah?

I searched for the Lara Croft workouts (don't laugh, OK?) because I was curious what it takes to get a bod like that. Suffice to say it takes a lot of hard work, discipline and sacrifice (pain too, I guess).

Alicia Vikander (who plays Lara Croft) trained under Magnus Lygdback and apparently she gained 12lbs of muscles. Yeah muscles. All I've ever gained is fat. Bah!

And then I wonder....hmmmm....what is it like to work with a personal trainer like Magnus?

One look at him pun I kecut. Besides he must be very expensive.

Anyway, I found the Lara Croft workouts and just for laughs I tried some of them. Bagai nak mampus I tell you. So forget it.

All right. Back to the chicken legs. You may all be wondering why this auntie has not been baking or cooking lately. All the blog posts are about eating out only.

Yes, I have not been baking (no time, no mood) but no, of course I have been cooking. Just that I cook normal stuff that are not blog worthy. Just like these roasted chicken legs and broccoli. Which I made one weekend when I was motivated (yup, by Lara Croft) to eat a ketogenic diet to burn fats. Hah!

I had a chicken leg and some broccoli for lunch and the same for dinner. At 8pm, I was hungry. Haiz....how to become Lara Croft like that? kah...kah...kah....

Anyway, I have put my ambitions aside because Alicia Vikander did say that it took her many months to get all toned up only to lose all of it in three weeks. You have to be consistent  to stay that way but since there's nothing in it for me, I'll just go and enjoy my char koay teow. So should you.

  6. I also try to eat a 'less-carbs' meal by eating a chicken leg with vegetables...and, like you, I get hungry soon after. So, most times, I supplement it with some roasted potatoes...and I will remain full. I can't help but notice the chicken legs you cook differ from my ones in terms of size...yours seem elongated while mine is more rounded. Is it because you buy your chicken legs from the supermarket? I buy mine from the wet markets as I feel they're much fresher (coz, from my experience, those I've bought from supermarkets, when I cut away the meat (during eating), sometimes the bones are somewhat darkened).

    1. Yes, I buy mine from the supermarket since it's not convenient for me to go to the wet market. I agree with you that the ones from wet market is fresher. The ones that I buy from Aeon depends on luck. Sometimes it s fresh and sometimes not that fresh (even though the packing date is the day that I buy).

  7. Aiyoh! Forget about exercise and continue to be Lara Hong the fat aunty who stays happy by eating. Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!

I go to gym several times a week and have no muscles like Magnus Lygdback. My gym buddies and those Muscle Marys pumped irons like buffaloes screaming in the gyms. They have to eat so much protein shakes and some 100 eggs per week. They looked so huge & suffocating like R2D2 from Star wars. Pengsan!

  8. Haha. You are so funny, PH. I prefer gaining fat than muscles. Easy to get fat. Haha.

But I do go 'oooh aaah' when the lead actress could be so sexy, toned yet strong at the same time over the screen. But I know it was all hard work and perseverance. Definitely not for me. That's why my body shape like what I am right now. Lol.

Your chicken legs for lunch looked good, I can have it anytime.

    1. hah..hah.. Very hard lah to be trim and toned and shapely. So many restrictions when it comes to food, so I cannot tahan.

  9. heheh, considering the millions of dollars that alicia vikander earned from playing this role, i guess that's one major incentive to exercise! and it's easier to get toned when one is in their 20s (unlike us old folks!) :D

  14. Hee, hee. I do the same. I want the muscular toned body. I usually visit YouTube for workouts. My current favourite is Fitness Blender as they have workouts from 5 minutes up to 90 minutes so I just key in the amount of time I have and off I go!
