The next day after lunch (beef trimmings from home, no photo because it is ugly) I went for my usual walk at the mall.
I passed by Baskin Robbins and they are currently having a promotion for macaron and pancakes with ice cream. The poster is very colorful and eye catching.
Then I stepped into Popular Bookstore. Just to browse in case there is anything interesting or good discounts. I have caught the reading bugs again and it is a good thing.
At RM39.90, I am not keen to buy unless if there is a good discount.
Anyone familiar with Grimm's Fairy Tales? That's a book from my childhood. Shall I buy this for the sake of nostalgia?
1984 and Animal Farm are classics which my late grandfather made me read when I was in secondary school.
1984 is a futuristic story which by very much a reality now in our tech driven world but in 1948 (when the book was written) it was science fiction.
Animal Farm on the other hand is a political satire.
This book I purchased many years ago from MPH. Yes, nostalgic. I used to read Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales when I was a kid.
But as an adult, I realized that some of the stories are not suitable for children. Example - The Red Shoe about a little girl who wore a pair of red shoes to her late mother's funeral.
When she left the church, the shoes took a life of their own and made her dance non-stop. In desperation, she had her feet cut off by a woodcutter. How nightmarish! Not something a young child should be reading.
I think I will go buy the BR mini ice cream pancake, sounds good π Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend ππ
You have a good weekend too! I hope to see your post on the BR mine ice cream pancake.
DeleteI still have my childhood big book of best fairy tales bought from reader digest. Inside got many many Grimms and hans christian Andersen fairy tales. Hans Christian Andersen's Little mermaid is such a sad story. π’ Disney changed it to have a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteI wished that I still have my old childhood books. I don't know what happened to them.
DeleteGood morning, I live a life of peace and prosperity, that is what I say to myself daily, hee hee. That aside, ahhhh, I know Animal Farm, it is our Literature book when we were secondary two. I agree with you, the cat comic book is very cute and I am like the cat in the comic, with a cup of coffee and a laptop in front of me lol. I love to read Enid Blyton's books. Since young, I had cultivated a habit of reading and till now, I still love to read. The boneless chicken legs looked so yummy, slurps, I am hungry! The Bazaar looks like got a lot of things to look see look see.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon! I am happy that your also love books. I also used to read Enid Blyton's book and I love them.
DeleteEnjoy your weekends!
ReplyDeleteYou too!
DeleteThe BR 's promotion reminds me of the Macaron that I had in Paris which are so much different with what I had here. I'm not a macaron lover but I like those I had in Paris. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh, I am sure macarons in Paris are wonderful! I tried macarons only once and did not like them >.<
DeleteI plan to bring the "When I was a Kid" book which you gifted me to Changi Airport to chill and read tomorrow Saturday weekend, thanks once again. There are seats besides a fountain in the foodcourt which provide really cosy environment for chilling and reading so I will go there tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHow nice hee..hee... You are most welcome!
DeleteThat last book....I'm also very tempted...just because I like to know the juicy secrets inside the palace walls that he gossiped to the world until his father refuses to even let him visit him. :O
ReplyDeleteOh he said a lots of things (from what I heard on Youtube) including attacking Princess Catherine and Queen Camilla. Not acceptable!
