As part of my healing process to recover from the loss of my beloved TuTu, I want to write about my kittens' story - from birth until present.
My regular readers would already know this story as I have blogged about it before. Back then, the kittens' story was an adjunct to my other posts and I actually sort of lost track of the sequence of events.
So if you find this too boring, it's all right to skip the posts. This is more for my own records and to preserve the memory of how it all began.
Before I knew anything, she gave birth to three kittens on 21-02-2024. I only discovered these three black writhing mass on the morning of 22-02-2024. What a shock!
So I set up a safe place for them on top of my shoe cabinet. I had no experience with new born kittens but I knew that mama cat would instinctively know what to do.
So Kittie Kat played her role well, as nature intended her to do. She nursed the little kittens and cleaned up after them.
She knew when to leave her babies (to eat and to do her own thing) and when to come back to check on them.
I had the opportunity to observe how a mama cat manages her babies' poop and pee. What she did was lick the kitten's backside and the little one would pee and poop as a result of the stimulation.
While that was happening, mama cat licks and eats her baby's poop and pee. I know this sounds disgusting but that is nature's way of preventing the kittens' poop and pee from attracting the attention of predators.
Besides, the kittens' diet consist entirely of mama's milk and therefore what comes out the back end may not that bad.
This was day #2. They were so tiny, like mice. In fact two of them (I had no idea which) fell from the shoe cabinet on the first day. I picked them up and placed them back in the box. It was amazing that they were not injured in any way.
Subsequently, I replaced the box with a bigger one for more space and safety. During this time, Kittie Kat exhibited aggression towards my other cat, Belle Belle, who then became so fearful that she eventually left home, never to return.
Kittie Kat however was not aggressive toward me, my partner and Girl. She saw Belle Belle as a threat because the old girl was very unfriendly and aggressive towards her when she joined the family as a kitten.
***To be continued***
Thank you for this recap. Now only I notice Kittie Kat is wearing white socks on her paw paw ๐พ too. Poodie nose is so pink in two of the photos. They were so tiny then. It is amazing how nature ensures life goes on. Tutu, Poodie and Ah boi grew up happily, being cared by Kittie Kat and Grandma ❤️ ๐ in a loving home.
ReplyDeleteP/S Do you still see the old girl Belle Belle around the neighborhood?
This recap warmed my heart and soothed the pain of losing TuTu. Belle Belle unfortunately has not been seen. I took a walk along my row of houses hoping to catch a glimpse of her but to no avail.
DeleteI will pray ๐ for Belle Belle too. Sounds like that old girl has also moved on to cross the rainbow ๐ bridge because she is quite old already. ๐ ๐ ๐
DeleteQuite a possibility that Belle Belle has moved on. Thank you for your prayers.

DeletePhotos bring back a lot of memories! ;) I wonder if Kittie Kat knows that one of her kids is gone.
ReplyDeleteI think she is aware one of them is missing. Those photos warm my heart and brought back good memories and also the challenges I faced especially when the little ones started walking. It was quite a headache LOL!
