Merdeka Day Lunch

Merdeka Day was on Saturday and we visited dad at the home as usual.

Dad was in a disagreeable mood and I was informed by the helper that he refused to have his diaper changed. Not only that, he also refused his morning bed bath. Oh dear dear.

So I informed mum so that she could persuade dad (and knock some sense into him) that he must allow himself to be cleaned up. Personal hygiene is very important!

Later that day, on mum's instruction, I contacted the nurse and was advised that dad's personal hygiene matters were resolved. It can be very challenging looking after the elderly as they can be unreasonable at times.

Lunch was at Kar Hiong and my brother took charge of ordering. My brother makes very good choices.

We had this Mui Choi Kau Yok (L) which was so so delicious!

I really loved this porkie dish heh..heh... It's great with lots of rice (ooopss!).

Next was the Salted Egg Mantis Prawns (M). This was also very good.

We absolutely love this Belacan Pucuk Paku (L). We never get tired of it.

Another dish we never get tired of is the Honey Pepper Abalone Mushroom (M). I did take a little bit and it was very nice.

That was a very good lunch and we left with very happy tummies.

    1. I used to feel "geli" looking at the dark mui choy when I first saw the dish at chap fan stall but after one taste - fall in love. LOL!

  3. It is true that it is challenging to take care of elderlies. Relief to hear that your mother successfully persuaded your father.

  5. Other than the honey pepper abalone mushrooms that I don't see in the menu of my go-to dai chow place, the other dishes are some of our regular orders too.
