Kittie Kat Comes Home

Well, Kittie Kat is all fixed and good. My partner and I went to pick her up yesterday.

Needless to say, the kitties were excited to see their ma. They were crowding around the cage while Ah Boi climbed up to the roof to reach out to her. But I did not manage to capture that moment.

Then they got curious about the carrier.

They might as well get acquainted with it since their turn to visit the vet will come soon.

I was curious about the incision and expected it to be at the lower part of her abdomen.

But it was at the side instead.

The wound looked neat and clean. Kittie Kat was given an antibiotic jab (painkiller too). She is expected to heal within 7-10 days.

I bought this carrier about a week before the procedure. What I like is the top opening which makes getting the cat in and out of the carrier much easier.

I lined the bottom of the carrier with an underpad to keep it clean.

It also comes with this plastic mesh thingy.

Which I placed on top of the liner to keep it in place.

Then one more underpad as added insurance. It worked very well. When we took Kittie Kat home, she had soiled the liner. I disposed the liners and gave the carrier a good wash.

I am relieved that all is well. Kititie Kat will stay in the cage throughout her recovery period to ensure that her wound heals properly and to reduce risk of injury to the site.

  1. Good to see Kittie Kat looking all well and active. Surgery site at the side is better for healing maybe. My brother's furkids the site is at the bottom of the abdomen. 🙏 Pray that Kittie Kat will recover smoothly 🙏

    1. Thank you! I thought the choice of incision site was rather clever as there is less movement in that area compared to bottom part of abdomen.

  2. Wow the vet did a marvelous job. The incision was neat & clean. 2 out of 6 of the cats I sent for spaying where the incision opened up & poor cats had to go for second stitch to close the incision. I also had to feed them one week of antibiotic. No cats like pills & I struggled to pop the pills into the mouth.

    1. Oh dear, the poor cats! Bravo to you for sending them to be spayed. I know it is very hard to feed cats with pills. That is why I opted to pay extra for the antibiotic shot.

  3. First time seeing the incision at the side. That's a very big patch of shaved hair! Will take a while for it to grow back. Good that everything went well.

  4. Do you worry that the kitties will accidentally hurt Kittie Kat's incision when playing?

    1. At the moment, Kittie Kat is isolated in the cage. I will only let her out once the wound is completely healed.
