Ever since my partner refused to go back to Goodness Greens, we have returned to Restoran Yik Kee@TTDI. My partner prefers this type of food, rice with dishes rather than my keto, quinoa, salada and funny funny stuff.
This restaurant continues to enjoy good business as they were almost full house when we got there. Luckily there was a small table for us.
I have been curious about wild boar meat and on our previous visit, I noted that they serve wild boar curry. As usual, we ordered 4 dishes.
I like the fish slices fried with ginger.
This is the first time we ordered the ladies fingers. My partner enjoyed this very much. I would prefer it with sambal.
I forgot that we ordered this crispy tofu before.
Now, the wild boar curry. I was rather disappointed that the meat was all mushy with bone splinters. I suspect this curry had been reheated many times, hence the mushy meat. Perhaps this is not one of their popular dishes. Taste wise, the curry was good. I guess we won't be ordering this again.
Too bad the wild boar curry did not meet your expectations. :(
ReplyDeleteYup. It could have been good.
DeleteI have wild boar in the freezer but no, I'm not cooking curry with it. What a waste of good wild boar, drowns out all the lovely fragrance and taste. Ok if it is too young, not so nice, the meat.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how it really tastes like.
DeleteInteresting curry! Wild boar meat is banned from selling in SG altho we have that when I was a kid.......
ReplyDeleteHi shirley is wild boar meat banned in SG, i thought i saw them selling at a stall at queen street albert hawker centre
Deletemy ex neighbour use to hunt for wild boar (yes, he has a hunting rifle). Back then we got free supply of wild boar meat coz he and his hunting gang not able to finish it.
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing about people hunting wild boar long ago.
DeleteI like wild boar meat for a change but not in curry though
ReplyDeleteI wonder how else it is cooked hmmm...
DeleteIt has been a long time since I last ate wild boar, not easily accessible here in Ipoh. Okra is one of my favorite greens, I can eat them steamed like this too...
ReplyDeleteI love steamed okra with sambal belacan!
DeleteI know hardly a few men who would choose all this green fashionable food than a good filling food as you have shown here:)
ReplyDeleteMost would prefer lots of meat!
DeleteI've not eaten wild boar meat on the bone. I usually have it in slices cooked in curry. Your partner is so easy to please...steamed okra is so easy to do at home (I do it all the time). Just steam the okra and add soya sauce, fried garlic and garlic oil and it's done! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, he is not fussy at all. Makes my life in the kitchen easier hee..hee..
DeleteCooked in this way

Oh I see, something like tau yu bak. Thanks!
DeleteNeed to be tender then it would be good. Too tough, I can't bite with my teeth. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI tasted before, once I think. My in-laws cooked but I prefer the lemongrass, ginger version. The wild boar meat could be strong for curry.
I hope to be able to try a better version someday.
DeleteI too prefer steamed okra with sambal. Only certain places have wild boar curry.
ReplyDeleteYes, quite rare to find wild boar on the menu.
DeleteWild boar meat is not supposed to be mushy, maybe your guess is correct, reheat too many times >_<
ReplyDeleteNot a popular dish I suppose. They should remove from the menu.
