Korean Again

After my less that satisfying Dolsot Bibimbap, I decided to revisit Han Woo Ri@Damansara Uptown (which I visited with my partner a few times). That was where I tasted my first ever bibimbap and liked it.

I ordered from the set lunch menu and I was served this tea which tasted more like green tea that I am used to.

The side dishes. That's more like it. Six banchan even though I was alone.

They are more generous than that other place.

They were all very nice except that I don't like the omelette. I mean, I love eggs and omelette, just not the ones served as banchan.

My favorite has to be the cucumber kimchi. It was so so nice.

I was also served with a soup that was flavorful.

My bibimbap, My only complaint is the gojuchang was too little. I should have asked for more.

I mixed it all up. I think it could do with more seasoning. So I poured some of the kimchi from my banchan into the mix hee..hee...

I was about to go to the cashier to pay when a server stopped me. Wait. Dessert. Oh, OK....

I like that barley drink. It has a smoky aroma. Very nice. This meal cost me RM20.05, slightly more by RM2.35 compared to the other place and this is way better. I'll come here when I want Korean food.

  1. I think the egg is more similar to Japanese tamago (steamed rolled egg) than omelette, right? that day I just ate bibimbap but did not use the gojuchang that they provided at all because I don't like the sweetish taste of the fermented soy sauce.

  4. Rm20 feels reasonable for a Korean main meal with banchan ... almost more like 2012 prices instead of 2017 prices ;)

  12. I was just about to say that omelette is not commonly served as a banchan (I don't think I've been served that before)...and then I found out you didn't like it ;) I may not like Korean food that much but I've always loved their barley drink :)

  13. I can eat Japanese food but not Korean. I can actually but prefer not to.. ^_^ I don't like green tea so whenever I go to this kind of resto, I will ask for plain water ^_^ So, so kampunglah me!

  15. Poor thing you didn't have a good Dolsot Bibimbap which tastes better than normal Bibimbap because they have a stronger aroma over fired clay bowls and slightly burnt taste. Just my personal opinion.

My Korean room mate shared with me their unique way of making their healthy rice and barley beverages. They would add water into the used rice cooker bowls where the deliberately burnt rice is at the bottom. Let the water boil and then drink it up! Bingo!
The same similar method for barley grains.
