Every time I run my banking errands, this red signboard keeps catching my eye. Asam Pedas Premier. Somehow I never ventured over there to see what it was all about. After all, I am not that crazy over asam pedas.
Then one day I read about RG's Set Ayam Goreng Berempah which he had at the Asam Pedas Premier in Penang. So. It was time to head over to the one at Damansara Uptown.
I googled their menu beforehand so that I could decide quickly what I wanted to eat.
I settled for the Set Nasi Lemak Sambal Ayam and Ambra Asam Boi.
My drink came like this. I was careful when using the straw to poke the plastic cover to avoid spilling the contents.
It was very nice, a little on the sweet side for me. I waited for a while for the nasi lemak. I expected it to be served quite quickly since nasi lemak components are usually prepared beforehand and only need to be assembled.
Finally. When was the last time I had nasi lemak? It wasn't that long ago in July here.
Time to dig in and guess what? On my first mouthful, I started coughing. Macam nak tercekik! That was my reaction to the hot sambal. Some chili went up my nose and arrghhh!!!
It took me a while to calm down hah..hah... It was a bit embarrassing lah. I took small sips of my ambra juice to help soothe my throat.
Now, that sambal was a good sambal. I liked it very much. It had sweet, salty and sour going on, something I look for in a good sambal.
Then I attacked the chicken which realized was freshly fried, as it was still piping hot when served. Nice. That's why I had to wait and yes, it was worth the wait.

The sambal on the chicken was equally good. It had all the right flavors going except that it was a tad sourish for me. But no big issue since I do like sour taste.
The rice was at best decent. Though I could detect the aroma of coconut milk, I felt that it could have done with more. Some of you will tell me that if I want more "lemak", I would have to cook it myself. How many times have I read nasi lemak reviews that say the rice is not lemak enough? Countless.
This meal cost me RM15.90. I can see myself coming back again for another treat. Maybe not so soon because I really have to cut down on my rice intake. I know. You are sniggering. Yeah, right, PH. Nanti tomorrow you buat lagi.
Maybe can tell them, less rice...
ReplyDeleteMaybe..
DeleteWow, so the sambal is very pedas! Then I am sure I cannot eat that sambal but I think I will go for the ikan pari. Hopefully that sambal with the ikan pari will not be so pedas.
ReplyDeleteI think I ate too fast, that's why it went up the wrong pipe hah..hah.. It's a bot more pedas than the usual, so proceed with caution :)
DeleteI spot Tsujiri next to this Asam Pedas eatery in your photo above. Hehehe, you have not been there to try the green tea ice cream/desserts yet?
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't because I don't like green tea desserts.
DeleteWow.. if it too pedas for you, then I will need two glasses of cold water beside me... I love nasi lemak too and the one I like is from the Tea Garden. :)
ReplyDeleteNasi lemak is always an all time favorite, cannot resist!
DeleteTomorrow you buat lagi, but nevermind la, as malay said, just eat when you still have you appetite, then sakit you makan ubat, haha..
ReplyDeletehah..hah...tak mau sakit Ticer Azimah! Janji PH tak buat lagi hee..hee...
DeleteHi PH, kat Penang pun ada o/let ASP ni..pernah jugak 'test drive'hahaaa...boleh la makan sedap jugak..but for my kids pedas la siket..
ReplyDeleteNasi lemak pun sedap..Harga tu mahal la siket sebab francise kot
Hi Lina, boleh tahan lah dia orang punya masakan. Ini pun belum test drive dia punya asam pedas. Next time pergi, PH nak try. Nak rasa hebat ke tak hebat.
DeleteWhere's the asam pedas?
ReplyDeleteGood question! That's for my next visit :)
DeleteAiksss....you and RG same-same one....tease us with assam pedas but eat nasi lemak pulak! :D I thought you like sourish stuff but you don't like assam pedas. What about assam laksa?
ReplyDeletehah..hah...nasi lemak wins hands down whenever it is on the menu. Next time I will try their asam pedas. As for asam laksa, yes, I love it!
DeleteOk lah, tomorrow I try the asam pedas dish... XD
DeleteYour nasi lemak set really had me drooling....and my tummy is making hungry sounds now. I love pedas and sourish food.
ReplyDeletehah..hah.. Pedas and sourish food is very appetizing and makes us eat more.
DeleteI just had nasi lemak on Sunday. Nice but could do better.
ReplyDeleteYours better with the ayam rempah.
I must cook nasi lemak one day...
Deleteooo, i'm not an asam pedas fan either, but i'm willing to be converted ... again, it could be because i've not yet tried great asam pedas. someone told me this year that there's good asam pedas in damansara uptown - i wonder if it's this one ... is there another asam pedas restaurant in uptown?
ReplyDeleteThis must be the one. One day I will try their asam pedas and let you know if it deserves the "premier" title. To me, my grandma's asam pedas is the best. Hmm..time for some more experiments :)
DeleteOne of my favourites, nasi lemak, I am hungry now, the chicken with its sauce looks so beautiful and tempting
ReplyDeleteI love food which are served fresh and piping hot
DeleteI am a rice person
I am a rice person too but cannot eat too much because it makes me fat. So sad :(
DeleteI don't mind waiting a little longer if it's because time is taken in preparing something fresh. I'd be happy with that hot chicken too.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it is always worth the wait for fresh great tasting food :)
DeleteMy weak spot for nasi lemak. So tempting ^-^!
ReplyDeleteMine too, with lots of sambal and ikan bilis!
DeleteI work nearby Uptown & this is my daily scene but never give it a try. Lol. With your good review, I won't hesitate to eat here eat! All the while I only eat Nasi Lemak at Village Park. Gonna have new place soon
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fatindays.com
Village Park's nasi lemak is one of the best but it is always so crowded, that's why I don't go.
DeleteHaha.....rasanya u pergi salah kedailah PH. Patutnya u pergi kedai Nasi Lemak Premier...
ReplyDeleteHarga makan sekarang ni biasalah kan PH mmg lebih kurang itulah kan... Janji sedap, puas hati harga mahal sikit no hal
hah..hah.. Betul Hainom, sebab kalau fikirkan masa ynag diambil kalau nak masak sendiri, beli lagi senang :)
