Roasted Broccoli with Bacon

Ever since I tried Broccoli Bagna Cauda I am very fond of roasted broccoli. To me, roasting is an easier way to cook broccoli compared to stir frying. I mean, I still love my broccoli stir fry but this is my preferred cooking method now.

It was a gloomy Sunday, the same Sunday when I made Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs. There was not enough light in the house and these days I am very fussy about my photos hah..hah... So after taking shots of my BBQ ribs, it was the broccoli's turn to strike a pose.

I was in a hurry and dashed outside before checking if anyone was around. As I was heading to my spot, my opposite neighbor saw me and he waved frantically in greeting. I smiled and waved back. Alamak. But it's OK, he probably thought I brought a bowl out to feed the birds muahahahaha! Besides, my garden is quite the jungle, so I could hide behind the foliage.

Once I was done, it was time to dig in. How could this not be delicious, eh? Bacon makes everything and anything taste good. Even broccoli. But I happen to love broccoli, so this is double the enjoyment. Have a go. I promise you that this is good. Very good!

Roasted Broccoli with Bacon

2. Place broccoli, garlic and bacon on the tray.
3. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Drizzle generously with olive oil and use your hands to rub olive oil into the broccoli.

  2. Looks good...but I have had my fill of ham and bacon after having eaten it non-stop - people kept giving me...and I'm also suffering from a hangover after an overdose of chocolates and Scottish shortbread. Staying off all those right now. I like broccoli, Chinese style, with beef...or canned topshell, nice!

    1. Next time when you have excess stock of ham and bacon, please send them over. Don't torture yourself by eating too much of it. hee..hee...

  4. When I saw Broccoli Bagna Cauda, I immediately clicked on the link. I love bagna cauda too, ever since I first tried it here....http://eatwhateatwhere.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-red-beanbag-publika.html

I'm not a big fan of green vegetables....and, by that, I literarily mean those that are green coloured ;D But I know green veges are good for me, so I'm game to try roasting it....especially with bagna cauda (as I don't like it stir-fried)!

  10. hahaha.. luckily it was just a small bowl of broccoli, so that your neighbour did not suspect anything and thought you might be just trying to feed some animals.. i wonder if you bake a cake later, and the light isn't good inside the house, you bring out one big cake and the neighbour might have thought "oh, this auntie next door must be baking some cakes to share with us, how nice".. and then stand there showing his/her biggest smile, or worse yell into the house and tell all kids to come out to welcome the cake!! huhuhu.. i guess you just need to do that stealthily.. call up your neighbour to check if anyone's home beforehand~~ :D

  13. Hi Phong Hong, I have tried cooking blanched brocolli with bacon mushroom sauce which was good but didn't post the recipe cos' the photos weren't well taken. Didn't know roasting these 2 ingredients together also 'boleh buat'. Must be very fragrant with the bacon. Simple and nice.
