Windfall Gain

The other day, a friend of a friend needed some help. It was basically an online search and of course I assisted.

I told the friend that his friend just needed to reimburse me for the cost of the search. No service fee. After all, it was for a friend of a friend and it was no big deal. Just a few clicks of my mouse and a few taps on my keyboard and the job was done.

But the friend of a friend was so grateful and felt that I should be compensated for my trouble. And so he remitted the cost plus extra. What a considerate person.

So with my unexpected gain (it was RM50.00 and these days I am grateful of every Ringgit), I went to treat myself.

Roast duck at Twins Signature Roast Duck, Damansara Uptown

I did not have coffee at home, so this Kopi C Ais Kosong was my coffee fix for the day.

The duck was superb like always, crispy skin and moist tender flesh. I particularly enjoyed the fatty parts at the lower end of the breast.

And then, while cleaning my house one day, I found a lonely ang pow packet lying in a basket on my side table.

Oh! It was the ang pow that my mum blessed me with earlier this year. I don't know how I could have missed this ang pow and now I have RM200.00 at my disposal (which partly went into sponsoring my makan at Halla Holla). Woohoo!

So I gave myself another treat at Sik Thong Ba. The Durian Sago Supreme, to satisfy my curiosity.

It was nice, you get real durian puree and durian pulp, though the durian ice cream was by no means premium stuff. I have not eaten durians for more than 2 years already. Though I enjoyed the taste of the durian, it did not ignite any durian cravings.

Earlier that morning mum, brother and I visited dad at the nursing home. There is this very cute cat that hangs around the home.

My brother had earlier taken snapshots of the cat (above and below) when I was down with Covid. He knows how much I love cats.

To my delight, the cat was there that morning. Hello!

It is a very friendly cat and my brother actually carried her to show me, but I was in the loo. So he let the cat go. But I managed to catch up with it.

It went to play near a clump of grass and settled down.

After that she did belly rolls for me.

So adorable!

I hope to see you again, pretty kitty!

Meanwhile, on the home front, this one was curled up into a ball.

  2. Wah food looks good. Nowadays my omad sometimes is completed at 10 am so I don't get to eat desserts. Ah, the resident cat is so adorable and let visitors carry. What a well behaved cat.

  3. You call that weaning off carbs after falling off your carnivore horse...with durian and ice cream....lol (naughty, naughty)! :O I wish I've a windfall like that...haha, though my son too found unopened ang pows before in his drawer (just like you). Oh dear, this cat reminds me of my lost cat (the stray who came and got taken) especially the last photo when she revealed her belly. :'( Since she's the resident cat, I'm sure you'll bump into her again in your visits.

  5. I saw the cat is wearing a name tag, it must be someone's pet.
